Green Card Identity Access Management Jobs
Identity Access Management roles sit squarely in the EB-2 and EB-3 specialty occupation categories, making PERM labor certification the standard green card sponsorship path. Employers must document that no qualified U.S. worker was displaced before filing your I-140 petition, a process that typically runs 18 to 36 months from PERM to permanent residency.

Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding Green Card Sponsorship in Identity Access Management
Map your credentials to PERM requirements
PERM filings for IAM roles typically specify a bachelor's degree in computer science, information security, or a related field. If your degree title differs, document how your coursework aligns to the job duties USCIS will evaluate during I-140 adjudication.
Target employers with active PERM filing history
Search the DOL's OFLC disclosure data to identify companies that have sponsored IAM positions before. Employers already familiar with the PERM recruitment attestation process for security engineering or directory services roles are far less likely to withdraw sponsorship mid-process.
Find green card sponsoring IAM jobs on Migrate Mate
Migrate Mate filters IAM openings specifically by green card sponsorship history, so you're only seeing employers who have completed PERM filings for similar roles. Use it to shortlist companies before you apply rather than discovering sponsorship eligibility after an offer.
Verify your role's prevailing wage tier early
Use the OFLC Wage Search to look up prevailing wage levels for your IAM job title and work location before negotiations. A Level I wage determination can trigger an audit flag if USCIS views the role as requiring more seniority than the offer reflects.
Confirm SOC code alignment with your job duties
IAM roles are filed under multiple Standard Occupational Classification codes depending on whether your duties skew toward security analysis, systems administration, or software development. Review the O*NET occupation profile for your likely code to ensure your offer letter's job duties match what the employer will certify to DOL.
Clarify who bears PERM recruitment costs at the offer stage
Federal regulations prohibit employers from passing PERM attorney fees or filing costs to you. Raise this explicitly when evaluating an offer, since some smaller IAM teams assume shared costs are standard. Get written confirmation before your start date.
Green Card Identity Access Management: Frequently Asked Questions
Do Identity Access Management roles qualify for EB-2 or EB-3 green card sponsorship?
Most IAM positions qualify under EB-3 as skilled worker roles requiring a bachelor's degree, and many also meet EB-2 criteria when the employer can demonstrate the job requires an advanced degree or you hold a graduate credential. USCIS evaluates the specific duties and minimum requirements stated in the PERM application, not just the job title, so the degree requirement your employer documents is what determines the category.
How does green card sponsorship differ from H-1B for an IAM professional?
H-1B visa sponsorship gives you temporary work authorization, subject to the annual lottery and a six-year maximum unless a green card is pending. PERM-based EB-2 or EB-3 sponsorship leads to permanent residency with no annual cap at the individual petition level. The tradeoff is timeline: PERM labor certification, I-140 filing, and adjustment of status together typically take 18 to 36 months for most nationalities, compared to a few months for H-1B.
Where can I find IAM employers that actually sponsor green cards?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for this search. It surfaces IAM job listings from employers with documented green card sponsorship history, so you can filter out roles where sponsorship is described as possible but never practiced. This matters because many technology employers post IAM openings without intending to run a PERM recruitment process.
Can my employer start my PERM process while I am on H-1B status?
Yes, and starting early is advisable. Your employer can file a PERM application and I-140 petition while you maintain valid H-1B status. Once the I-140 is approved and your priority date becomes current, you file for adjustment of status. Beginning PERM before your sixth H-1B year also preserves your ability to extend H-1B status in one-year increments under AC21 portability rules.
What documentation should I prepare before asking an employer to sponsor my green card?
Gather official transcripts, any credential evaluations for non-U.S. degrees, professional certifications such as CISSP or CyberArk credentials relevant to the IAM field, and employment verification letters for every prior role. PERM requires the employer to attest to your qualifications on the ETA 9089 form, so gaps or inconsistencies in your documented experience can delay DOL certification or trigger an audit.
