Information Security Specialist Green Card Jobs
Information Security Specialist roles qualify for EB-2 and EB-3 green card sponsorship through the PERM labor certification process, which permanently authorizes your employment rather than requiring annual renewal. Employers file with DOL first, then USCIS, before you adjust status. Finding employers with active PERM filing history is the critical first step.

Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding Green Card Sponsorship as an Information Security Specialist
Match your credentials to the right EB category
EB-2 requires a master's degree or a bachelor's plus five years of progressive information security experience. EB-3 covers roles requiring a bachelor's. Get your foreign credentials evaluated before applying so employers can confirm your category without delays.
Target employers with PERM filing history
Search DOL OFLC disclosure data to identify companies that have sponsored information security roles before. Employers already familiar with PERM timelines for technical roles are far less likely to withdraw sponsorship offers mid-process due to cost or timeline concerns.
Search green card sponsoring jobs on Migrate Mate
Use Migrate Mate to find Information Security Specialist roles filtered by employers with active green card sponsorship history. This cuts the time spent cold-applying to companies that have never filed a PERM for a security role.
Prepare your professional documentation before offers
Assemble your degree transcripts, any relevant certifications such as CISSP or CISM, and a detailed employment history before you receive an offer. The PERM supervised recruitment phase requires precise job duties and minimum requirements, so gaps in your documentation slow the process.
Understand how PERM's prevailing wage affects your offer
Your employer must pay at least the DOL prevailing wage for your specific security role and location, verified through the OFLC Wage Search. Check the posted wage level before accepting an offer to confirm it aligns with your experience tier under PERM requirements.
Negotiate your start date around PERM filing timelines
PERM labor certification alone typically takes six to twelve months before your employer can file the I-140 petition with USCIS. Build this into your start-date conversation so neither you nor your employer is surprised when adjustment of status extends well beyond your first year.

Find Information Security Specialist JobsInformation Security Specialist Green Card Sponsorship: Frequently Asked Questions
Does an Information Security Specialist role qualify for EB-2 or EB-3 green card sponsorship?
Both categories apply depending on your credentials and the employer's stated minimum requirements. EB-2 covers Information Security Specialists whose roles require a master's degree or a bachelor's plus five years of progressive specialized experience. EB-3 applies to roles where a bachelor's degree is the defined minimum. The employer's PERM job description locks in the category, so the requirements posted during supervised recruitment determine which tier your petition falls under.
How does green card sponsorship differ from H-1B for an information security role?
The H-1B is a temporary nonimmigrant visa with an annual cap and lottery, requiring renewal every three years. PERM-based green card sponsorship permanently authorizes your employment and has no annual numerical cap at the EB-3 level for most countries outside India and China. The PERM process is slower, often taking two or more years from labor certification to adjustment of status, but the outcome is lawful permanent residency rather than continued visa dependency.
What does the PERM labor certification process require from an Information Security Specialist applicant?
Your employer conducts the supervised recruitment under PERM rules, but your role is to document that you meet the job's stated minimum requirements precisely as written. For information security roles this typically means providing degree transcripts, certification records such as CISSP or Security+, and a detailed employment history that maps directly to the PERM job description. Any gap between your documented qualifications and the posted requirements can cause DOL to deny the application.
Where can I find employers who actively sponsor green cards for information security positions?
Use Migrate Mate to search for Information Security Specialist roles filtered by employers with documented PERM filing history. This is more reliable than applying broadly, because an employer's past PERM activity for technical security roles signals they understand the process, have budget for legal costs, and are less likely to withdraw sponsorship. DOL OFLC disclosure data also lets you verify specific employers' filing records independently.
Can I switch employers during the PERM or I-140 process without losing my place in line?
Changing employers before your I-140 is approved generally requires restarting PERM from the beginning with the new employer. After your I-140 is approved and your priority date is established, federal law allows you to port to a new employer in a same or similar occupational classification if your adjustment of status application has been pending for at least 180 days. Information security roles typically qualify as sufficiently similar across different employers given consistent SOC code classifications.
