- Perform annual risk assessment over assigned risks to develop and refine the annual risk-based audit plan.

- Provide actionable insights to help integrate ERM frameworks into business processes and strategic decision-making.
-
Assist in evaluating the effectiveness of risk mitigation efforts and contribute to enterprise-wide risk reporting.
-
Collaboration & Continuous Improvement
- Build strong, trust-based relationships with stakeholders to drive accountability and promote a culture of risk awareness.
- Collaborate with and manage co-sourced audit partners to ensure quality, consistency, and timely execution of audit activities.
- Champion the use of agile audit practices, data analytics, and automation to enhance audit quality and efficiency.
- Contribute to the development and continuous improvement of Internal Audit methodologies, tools, and templates.
Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Information Systems, or a related field (CIA, CPA, CISA, or other relevant certifications a plus)
- 5–7 years of experience in internal audit, risk advisory, or compliance, ideally within a fast-paced, tech-enabled environment
- Experience conducting audits across both technology and business domains
- Strong understanding of internal controls, risk management frameworks, and auditing standards (e.g., IIA)
- Familiarity with tech-related risks such as cybersecurity, cloud infrastructure, data privacy, and third-party risk management
- Intellectually curious and adaptable, with a continuous improvement mindset and comfort navigating organizational change
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; comfort working with data and systems
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to translate technical findings into business-relevant insights
- Proven ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines in a dynamic environment
- High integrity, curiosity, and a collaborative mindset

Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding Green Card Sponsorship as an Internal Audit Manager
Document your specialized audit credentials early
Gather your CPA, CIA, or CISA certificates, official transcripts, and performance reviews before you start applying. PERM requires your employer to verify your qualifications meet the minimum requirements stated in the job posting, so gaps in documentation delay certification.
Target employers with active PERM filing history
Search the OFLC Wage Search database to find companies that have previously sponsored Internal Audit Manager roles under PERM. Firms with repeat filings in audit or finance functions have established processes and are far less likely to withdraw sponsorship mid-process.
Search green card sponsoring employers on Migrate Mate
Use Migrate Mate to filter Internal Audit Manager roles by employers with confirmed green card sponsorship history. This cuts the time you'd otherwise spend cold-applying to companies with no PERM track record in audit or compliance functions.
Request EB-2 classification if you hold an advanced degree
If you have a master's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field, ask the employer to file under EB-2 rather than EB-3. EB-2 can shorten your wait for a current priority date in certain countries and positions you better if the employer later pursues a National Interest Waiver.
Negotiate sponsorship commitment before accepting an offer
Get written confirmation that the employer will cover PERM, I-140, and adjustment of status costs before you sign. Internal audit roles are in demand, which gives you leverage. USCIS filing fees and attorney costs can exceed several thousand dollars, and some employers shift these to employees by default.
Understand how audit scope affects your PERM job description
DOL evaluates whether the posted position genuinely requires a bachelor's degree in a specific field. If your role spans IT audit, financial controls, and SOX compliance, ensure the PERM job description accurately reflects those requirements so USCIS classifies it correctly under EB-2 or EB-3.
Green Card Internal Audit Manager: Frequently Asked Questions
Does an Internal Audit Manager role qualify for EB-2 or EB-3 green card sponsorship?
Most Internal Audit Manager positions qualify for EB-3 as a professional role requiring at least a bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field. If the employer requires a master's degree or the candidate holds advanced credentials like a CPA with a graduate degree, EB-2 classification is possible. The PERM job description determines which category applies, so the language your employer uses when posting the role matters significantly.
How does PERM green card sponsorship differ from H-1B sponsorship for this role?
H-1B visa is a temporary work visa subject to an annual lottery with no path to permanent residency on its own. PERM green card sponsorship is a permanent immigration process with no annual cap at the EB-3 level for most countries outside India and China. The PERM process requires DOL to certify the labor market before USCIS approves the I-140 petition, which typically adds 12 to 24 months to the overall timeline, but the outcome is lawful permanent residency rather than a renewable temporary status.
How long does the green card process take for an Internal Audit Manager?
The PERM labor certification stage alone takes six to eighteen months depending on whether DOL selects the application for audit. After PERM approval, the employer files the I-140 petition with USCIS, which takes six to twelve months under standard processing. Applicants from countries without significant backlogs can then file for adjustment of status relatively quickly, while applicants from India or China may wait years for a current priority date.
Can I search specifically for Internal Audit Manager roles that offer green card sponsorship?
Yes. Migrate Mate is built for exactly this search, letting you filter Internal Audit Manager positions by employers with confirmed PERM and green card sponsorship history. This is more reliable than filtering by self-reported sponsorship labels on general job boards, which often include roles where the employer has no prior PERM experience in audit or finance functions.
What happens to my green card process if I change employers mid-PERM?
If you change employers before the I-140 is approved, the PERM certification is tied to the sponsoring employer and cannot transfer. You would need to restart the process with the new employer. Once your I-140 has been approved for at least 180 days and your adjustment of status application has been pending for at least 180 days, you may be eligible for portability under AC21, which allows you to move to a similar role without losing your priority date.
