Green Card Manufacturing Jobs
Manufacturing jobs across production, quality, and process engineering attract strong EB-2 and EB-3 green card sponsorship from U.S. employers running PERM labor certifications. Roles tied to CNC machining, industrial engineering, and quality assurance regularly clear prevailing-wage requirements, making this one of the more accessible paths to permanent residency for foreign manufacturing professionals.

Match your credentials to PERM job requirements
Your foreign degree or trade qualifications must align with the minimum requirements the employer lists on the PERM application. A mismatch between your credentials and the posted job duties is one of the most common audit triggers at the DOL stage.
Target manufacturers enrolled in E-Verify
Factories and production facilities that already use E-Verify for workforce compliance tend to have established HR processes for sponsoring foreign workers. Filtering your search to E-Verify-enrolled employers cuts the time spent identifying green-card-ready manufacturers.
Search green card sponsoring roles on Migrate Mate
Migrate Mate surfaces manufacturing employers with active EB-2 and EB-3 green card sponsorship history, so you're applying to roles where PERM is already a known process rather than a first-time request.
Verify prevailing wage before accepting an offer
The DOL sets wage levels for each manufacturing occupation by metro area. Run your offered salary through the OFLC Wage Search before signing anything. An offer below the prevailing wage for your job zone will stall or kill the PERM filing.
Use O*NET to map your role to the right SOC code
The SOC code tied to your manufacturing role determines which prevailing-wage level applies and whether EB-2 or EB-3 is the right category. Pull your occupation's profile from O*NET and confirm the code matches what your employer plans to file.
Clarify who bears PERM recruitment costs upfront
PERM requires employers to conduct a formal recruitment campaign before USCIS approves an I-140 petition. Ask your hiring manager whether the company has legal counsel handling the labor certification, and confirm the timeline before your start date.
Green Card Manufacturing: Frequently Asked Questions
Do manufacturing jobs qualify for EB-2 or EB-3 green card sponsorship?
Both categories apply depending on the role. EB-3 covers skilled manufacturing workers and professionals who meet the job's stated degree or experience requirements. EB-2 applies to manufacturing roles requiring an advanced degree or where the candidate has specialized credentials that meet USCIS standards. Production technician and quality inspector roles typically file under EB-3, while process and industrial engineers with graduate degrees may qualify under EB-2.
How does PERM green card sponsorship differ from H-1B for manufacturing roles?
The PERM process leads to permanent residency rather than a temporary work visa, so there's no annual renewal or lottery. For most manufacturing roles filing under EB-3, there's no annual cap concern for candidates from most countries, unlike the H-1B visa's 85,000-slot cap. The tradeoff is time: PERM labor certification, I-140 approval, and adjustment of status can take two to four years, compared to a few months for an H-1B petition.
Can a manufacturing employer sponsor me for a green card if the role doesn't require a degree?
Yes. EB-3 includes a skilled worker category for positions requiring at least two years of training or experience, which covers many manufacturing roles like CNC machinist, welder, or production supervisor. The employer must demonstrate through the PERM recruitment process that no qualified U.S. worker was available for the position, regardless of whether a degree is required.
How do I find manufacturing employers that actively sponsor green cards?
Migrate Mate indexes employers with documented EB-2 and EB-3 sponsorship history in manufacturing, so you can search by role and location without guessing which companies are open to the PERM process. Targeting employers that have filed before is more efficient than cold-approaching companies that have no established immigration infrastructure.
What happens to my green card case if I change manufacturing jobs mid-process?
If you change employers before USCIS approves your I-140 petition, the PERM labor certification is tied to the original employer and generally cannot transfer. Once your I-140 is approved and your priority date is current, portability rules under AC21 may allow you to move to a similar manufacturing role without restarting the process. Confirm with your employer's immigration counsel before making any job change.
