Green Card Procurement Jobs
Procurement roles in supply chain management, strategic sourcing, and contract administration regularly qualify for EB-2 and EB-3 green card sponsorship through the PERM labor certification process. Employers filing I-140 petitions for procurement professionals value specialized credentials and industry-specific experience. Finding the right sponsorship match starts with knowing which organizations have an active filing history.

Frame your credentials for PERM documentation
PERM requires your employer to document that no qualified U.S. worker is available for your specific role. Certifications like CPSM or CSCMP, combined with specialized category expertise, strengthen the case that your qualifications are genuinely distinct.
Target employers with PERM filing history
Use Migrate Mate to filter procurement roles by employers who have previously filed PERM applications, so you're applying to organizations already familiar with sponsoring foreign professionals rather than persuading a new sponsor from scratch.
Distinguish EB-2 from EB-3 eligibility early
Procurement roles requiring a master's degree or specialized advanced expertise may qualify under EB-2, which can reduce your priority date wait. Roles classified as skilled workers typically fall under EB-3, so clarify your job zone with your employer before filing.
Identify industries with consistent sponsorship patterns
Defense contractors, pharmaceutical manufacturers, and large logistics companies file PERM applications for procurement roles more regularly than small businesses. Targeting these sectors improves your odds of finding an employer with an established sponsorship infrastructure.
Verify your prevailing wage classification before negotiating
DOL's PERM process requires your employer to pay at least the prevailing wage for your occupation and location. Check the OFLC Wage Search before finalizing any offer to confirm whether the salary aligns with the wage level your credentials support.
Time your job search around PERM labor market timelines
PERM requires employers to conduct mandatory recruitment steps, including posting and waiting periods, before filing. Starting your search early gives prospective employers room to complete the supervised recruitment process without rushing your start date.
Green Card Procurement: Frequently Asked Questions
Do procurement roles qualify for EB-2 or EB-3 green card sponsorship?
Most procurement positions qualify under EB-3 as skilled workers or professionals, particularly roles requiring a bachelor's degree in supply chain, business, or a related field. Strategic sourcing managers or procurement directors with a master's degree and specialized credentials may qualify under EB-2. The classification depends on the specific duties and minimum requirements the employer documents in the PERM application.
How does green card sponsorship differ from H-1B sponsorship for procurement professionals?
Green card sponsorship through PERM and I-140 leads to permanent residency rather than a temporary status. There's no annual lottery at the EB-3 level, which removes the cap uncertainty that H-1B visa applicants face every spring. The tradeoff is timeline: the PERM labor certification process typically adds six months to a year before the I-140 is even filed, so starting early with an employer matters.
Which procurement certifications strengthen a PERM application?
Certifications from the Institute for Supply Management, such as CPSM, and credentials from CSCMP can help an employer document that a position requires specialized qualifications beyond a generalist background. USCIS and DOL look at whether the role's requirements are genuinely tied to the business need, so certifications that match the actual job duties carry more weight than credentials added after the fact.
How do I find procurement employers who will sponsor a green card?
Migrate Mate lets you search procurement roles filtered by employers with green card sponsorship history, so you can focus your applications on organizations that have already navigated the PERM process. Defense, pharmaceuticals, logistics, and large manufacturing firms tend to sponsor procurement roles more consistently than small or mid-size businesses without dedicated HR teams.
What happens to my green card case if I change procurement roles mid-process?
If you change employers before your I-140 is approved, the PERM application is generally abandoned and the new employer must restart the process. Once your I-140 is approved and you've been waiting for at least 180 days, portability rules may allow you to move to a similar procurement role at a new employer without restarting, provided your priority date and adjustment of status filing remain valid.
