Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding Green Card Sponsorship in Prosthetist
Verify your credentials match PERM requirements
PERM requires your foreign degree and clinical training to meet the job's minimum requirements as defined in the labor certification. Get your credentials evaluated by a NACES-recognized agency before targeting employers, so your application isn't delayed at the audit stage.
Target orthotics and prosthetics networks directly
Hospital rehabilitation departments, veterans' affairs facilities, and O&P private practices have filed PERM applications for prosthetists before. Focus on employers with established international hiring pipelines rather than general healthcare staffing agencies unfamiliar with the EB-3 process.
Search green card sponsors using Migrate Mate
Use Migrate Mate to filter prosthetist roles by employers with active green card sponsorship history. This cuts out organizations that will ask you to self-petition or that have never navigated PERM for clinical allied health roles.
Confirm ABC or BOC licensure eligibility before filing
Most U.S. employers require ABC or BOC certification as a minimum job requirement in their PERM application. If you hold foreign credentials only, confirm the equivalency pathway with the certifying body before an employer submits your labor certification to DOL.
Understand the EB-3 prevailing wage before negotiating
DOL sets the prevailing wage for your role and location through the OFLC Wage Search. Your offered salary must meet or exceed this figure in the PERM filing, so check it before salary discussions to avoid a mismatch that forces a refiled application.
Ask employers about concurrent I-140 and I-485 filing
If a visa number is immediately available for your country under EB-3, your employer may file your I-140 petition and I-485 adjustment of status concurrently, shortening your wait for work authorization. USCIS allows this when priority dates are current.

Find Prosthetist JobsProsthetist Green Card Sponsorship: Frequently Asked Questions
Does a prosthetist role qualify for EB-2 or EB-3 green card sponsorship?
Prosthetist positions typically qualify under EB-3 as skilled workers requiring at least a bachelor's degree in prosthetics and orthotics plus clinical certification. EB-2 sponsorship is available if the employer can demonstrate the role requires an advanced degree or if you qualify for a National Interest Waiver based on your specialized clinical contributions, though employer-sponsored PERM under EB-3 is the more common path.
How does green card sponsorship differ from H-1B for a prosthetist?
H-1B sponsorship is temporary, capped at 85,000 per year, and subject to an annual lottery, while EB-3 green card sponsorship through PERM leads to permanent residency with no annual cap lottery. The trade-off is time: PERM labor certification and I-140 approval can take one to three years before you receive a green card, whereas H-1B status can begin within months of approval.
What does the PERM labor certification process look like for a prosthetist employer?
Your employer must conduct a DOL-supervised recruitment campaign to confirm no qualified U.S. workers are available for your specific prosthetist role. This includes job postings, internal notices, and documentation of all applicants considered. If the recruitment period passes without a qualified U.S. hire, DOL certifies the application and your employer can proceed to the I-140 immigrant petition with USCIS.
How do I find prosthetist employers who actively sponsor green cards?
Use Migrate Mate to search prosthetist roles filtered by employers with documented green card sponsorship history. This avoids spending time with hiring managers at organizations that have never filed PERM applications for allied health roles and may redirect you toward temporary visa options instead of permanent sponsorship.
Will my foreign prosthetics degree be accepted for a PERM-sponsored role?
DOL requires your education to satisfy the minimum requirements stated in the PERM job description. A foreign bachelor's degree in prosthetics and orthotics is generally acceptable if evaluated as equivalent to a U.S. degree by a NACES-recognized credential evaluation service. Your employer must specify the degree requirement in the labor certification, and your credentials must meet that bar exactly as written.
