Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding Green Card Sponsorship as a Registered Veterinary Technician
Verify your credentials meet PERM requirements
PERM labor certification requires your degree and NAVLE licensure to match the job description exactly. If your foreign veterinary technology diploma needs evaluation, get a credential assessment before applying so employers aren't delayed at filing.
Target veterinary practices with prior sponsorship history
Corporate veterinary groups and university-affiliated animal hospitals file PERM petitions more regularly than independent clinics. Prioritize employers who already have an immigration attorney on retainer, since solo practices often lack the infrastructure to manage multi-year sponsorship commitments.
Understand how EB-3 differs from H-1B for this role
Unlike H-1B, EB-3 green card sponsorship has no annual lottery for most countries, and Registered Veterinary Technician roles qualify as skilled workers without requiring a bachelor's degree in all cases. The tradeoff is a longer overall timeline: PERM, I-140, then adjustment of status.
Ask employers about prevailing wage before accepting offers
DOL requires PERM employers to pay at least the prevailing wage for your location and role. Cross-check the posted salary against the OFLC Wage Search to confirm the offer meets the minimum wage level, since an underpaying offer will stall the PERM filing.
Use Migrate Mate to find sponsoring veterinary employers
Search Migrate Mate to filter Registered Veterinary Technician openings by green card sponsorship history. This surfaces employers who have filed PERM petitions for similar roles, so you're applying where the infrastructure already exists rather than asking a clinic to start from scratch.
Confirm state licensure portability during the I-485 wait
Your NAVLE license is state-specific, and adjustment of status can take years if you're in a backlogged country. Confirm with your employer that your state license can be renewed continuously while you remain on work authorization, since a lapsed license can jeopardize your employment and your petition.

Find Registered Veterinary Technician JobsRegistered Veterinary Technician Green Card Sponsorship: Frequently Asked Questions
Does a Registered Veterinary Technician role qualify for an EB-3 green card?
Yes. Registered Veterinary Technician positions typically qualify under the EB-3 skilled worker category, which covers occupations requiring at least two years of training or experience. Employers file a PERM labor certification with DOL confirming no qualified U.S. workers are available, then submit an I-140 immigrant petition with USCIS before you can adjust status to permanent residency.
How does PERM green card sponsorship differ from H-1B for veterinary technicians?
H-1B requires an annual lottery, a cap of 85,000 slots, and is temporary. PERM-based EB-3 sponsorship has no lottery at the skilled-worker level for most nationalities, and the outcome is permanent residency rather than a renewable temporary status. The process takes longer overall, but you aren't subject to annual selection uncertainty, and the result is a green card rather than a multi-year work visa.
Which employers are most likely to sponsor a green card for this role?
Corporate veterinary groups, university veterinary teaching hospitals, and large multi-location animal hospitals are most likely to sponsor because they have established relationships with immigration counsel and experience managing PERM timelines. Independent single-location clinics can sponsor but often lack the administrative capacity, so expect more groundwork convincing them of the process and cost involved.
How can I find Registered Veterinary Technician jobs with green card sponsorship?
Migrate Mate lets you search Registered Veterinary Technician openings filtered by employers with documented green card sponsorship history. Rather than cold-applying and asking clinics to sponsor from scratch, you can focus on employers who have already completed PERM filings for similar roles, which significantly reduces the risk of a sponsorship commitment falling through mid-process.
What happens to my green card petition if I change employers mid-process?
If you leave before your I-140 is approved, the PERM labor certification is tied to that specific employer and cannot transfer. Once your I-140 is approved and your priority date is current, AC21 portability rules allow you to change to a same or similar occupation with a new employer without restarting from scratch. Confirm the new role qualifies as substantially similar before making a move.
