Green Card Triage Registered Nurse Jobs
Triage Registered Nurse roles qualify for EB-3 sponsorship under PERM labor certification, and strong candidates with a master's degree or specialized credentials may qualify at the EB-2 level. Employers file the PERM application with DOL, then petition USCIS for permanent residency. Nursing shortages in emergency and urgent care settings make sponsorship more common than most foreign RNs expect.

Get your CGFNS certification before applying
Most U.S. employers require Commission on Graduates of Foreign Nursing Schools (CGFNS) certification and a state RN license before they'll initiate PERM. Securing these credentials early removes the most common bottleneck in the sponsorship timeline.
Target hospital systems with active PERM filings
Search DOL's OFLC disclosure data for employers who have filed PERM applications under SOC code 29-1141 in the last two years. Health systems with recurring filings have established sponsorship workflows and are far less likely to withdraw mid-process.
Use Migrate Mate to filter green-card-sponsoring roles
Searching general job boards surfaces thousands of triage RN postings with no sponsorship detail. Migrate Mate filters specifically for employers with EB-3 sponsorship history, so you're applying where PERM is already part of the hiring process.
Verify prevailing wage before negotiating your offer
Your employer must pay at least the DOL prevailing wage for your role and location. Look up the applicable wage level using the OFLC Wage Search before you receive an offer, so you know whether the salary is PERM-compliant.
Understand that EB-3 has no annual lottery
Unlike H-1B visa, EB-3 sponsorship doesn't depend on a lottery selection. Your place in line is determined by your PERM filing date, called your priority date. For most countries other than India and China, wait times at the EB-3 level are significantly shorter.
Confirm the employer's PERM recruitment timeline upfront
PERM requires employers to complete a formal recruitment process before filing with DOL, typically taking six to twelve months from job posting to petition submission. Ask your prospective employer at the offer stage whether they've completed or started this step.
Green Card Triage Registered Nurse: Frequently Asked Questions
Do Triage Registered Nurse roles typically qualify for EB-2 or EB-3 green card sponsorship?
Most triage RN positions are sponsored under EB-3, which covers professionals with a bachelor's degree in nursing and a valid RN license. EB-2 is available to candidates with a master's degree in nursing or a specialized credential that meets the advanced-degree requirement. Your employer files under whichever category matches your qualifications and the job's stated requirements.
How does EB-3 green card sponsorship differ from H-1B for a triage RN?
H-1B requires annual lottery selection and is capped at 85,000 per fiscal year, making it unpredictable for both you and your employer. EB-3 PERM has no lottery and no annual cap at the petition level. The trade-off is timeline: PERM labor certification and the I-140 petition process takes longer up front, but the outcome is permanent residency rather than a renewable temporary status.
What credentials do I need before a U.S. employer will start the PERM process for a triage RN role?
You'll need a valid RN license in the state where you'll be working, CGFNS certification or an equivalent credential evaluation, and evidence of English proficiency through NCLEX passage or an approved test such as IELTS or OET. Most employers won't open a PERM case until all three are in hand, so completing them before you apply speeds up the entire sponsorship timeline.
How do I find Triage Registered Nurse jobs where the employer is already prepared to sponsor a green card?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for this search. It surfaces triage RN postings from employers with documented EB-3 sponsorship history, so you're not cold-applying to roles where the hiring team has never navigated PERM. Filtering by sponsorship track record before you apply saves months of time on dead-end applications.
What is the typical timeline from PERM filing to receiving a green card as a triage RN?
DOL PERM adjudication currently averages several months to over a year depending on audit rates. Once PERM is certified, your employer files the I-140 petition with USCIS, which takes several months under standard processing. For most countries outside India and China, adjustment of status or consular processing can follow relatively quickly after the I-140 approval, often within one to two years total from PERM filing.
