Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding Green Card Sponsorship as a RN Staff Nurse
Get your credentials evaluated before applying
CGFNS or an equivalent foreign credential evaluation is required before most employers can file your PERM. Having a completed evaluation ready signals to hiring managers that your case won't stall at the documentation stage.
Filter employers by PERM filing history
Not all hospitals sponsor green cards. Use Migrate Mate to search RN Staff Nurse roles by verified PERM filing activity, so you're applying to employers with an established sponsorship track record rather than guessing.
Understand the DOL prevailing wage before negotiating
Your PERM-sponsored offer must meet DOL's prevailing wage for your role and location. Look up your wage level using the OFLC Wage Search before accepting any offer to confirm the salary qualifies and won't trigger a re-filing.
Ask employers about their PERM recruitment timeline
PERM requires the employer to complete a documented recruitment process that typically runs 60 to 90 days before DOL filing. Ask hiring contacts where they are in that cycle so you can gauge how far out your green card case is.
Check your country's EB-3 priority date before committing
Nurses from the Philippines and India face multi-year EB-3 backlogs. Review the monthly Visa Bulletin before accepting a sponsorship offer so you understand the realistic wait between I-140 approval and your ability to adjust status.

Find RN Staff Nurse JobsRN Staff Nurse Green Card Sponsorship: Frequently Asked Questions
Which green card category covers RN Staff Nurse roles?
Most RN Staff Nurse sponsorships fall under EB-3, which covers skilled workers in roles requiring at least two years of training or experience. Some candidates with a BSN and specialized credentials may qualify under EB-2 if the employer can demonstrate the position requires an advanced degree. Either category requires PERM labor certification before the I-140 petition is filed with USCIS.
How does EB-3 green card sponsorship differ from H-1B for nurses?
H-1B sponsorship is temporary and subject to an annual lottery cap, which creates significant uncertainty. EB-3 sponsorship leads directly to permanent residency with no lottery and no cap on the number of PERM petitions that can be filed. The tradeoff is a longer overall timeline, often two to four years or more depending on your country of birth, compared to H-1B status which can be approved in a matter of months.
Do I need NCLEX before an employer can file my PERM?
Yes, in almost all cases. Employers filing PERM for RN Staff Nurse roles must document that the position requires active RN licensure, and USCIS expects candidates to meet all stated requirements at the time of filing or upon starting work. Passing NCLEX and obtaining state licensure before your case is filed removes a major source of potential RFEs and processing delays.
Where can I find RN Staff Nurse jobs that actually sponsor green cards?
Migrate Mate lets you search RN Staff Nurse openings filtered by verified PERM and EB-3 sponsorship activity, so you can focus on employers who have a documented history of filing for international nurses rather than applying broadly and asking. This is especially useful for nurses from high-backlog countries who need to start the PERM clock as early as possible.
What happens to my green card case if I change employers mid-process?
Changing employers before your I-140 is approved typically means starting the PERM process over with the new employer. After I-140 approval and with a priority date that is more than 180 days old, portability rules under AC21 may allow you to transfer your case to a new employer in a same or similar RN role without losing your priority date. Confirm the specifics with a licensed immigration attorney before making any job change.
