Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding Green Card Sponsorship as a Security Product Manager
Frame your credentials around specialty occupation evidence
PERM audits for product management roles often hinge on whether the position genuinely requires a degree in a specific field. Document how your computer science, cybersecurity, or information systems background directly enables the security-specific technical decisions the role demands.
Target employers with active PERM filing history
Security product roles at defense contractors, cloud security vendors, and enterprise software companies have established PERM pipelines. Use Migrate Mate to filter for employers who have sponsored green cards for product and technical management roles specifically.
Verify your role maps to the right O*NET classification
Your employer's attorney will classify your position using O*NET when filing the PERM. Confirming your duties align with a recognized occupation code for product management or information security management strengthens the PERM and reduces audit risk.
Negotiate the PERM filing timeline before accepting an offer
EB-2 and EB-3 PERM cases typically take 12 to 18 months before an I-140 petition can be filed. Raise the sponsorship timeline directly during offer negotiations so both sides agree on when the employer will initiate the PERM process.
Check DOL prevailing wage before your salary is set
PERM requires your offered salary to meet or exceed the DOL prevailing wage for your job title and work location. Run the OFLC Wage Search for your specific security product role before finalizing compensation to avoid a wage-based PERM denial later.
Separate your EB-3 green card from H-1B renewal planning
PERM sponsorship is permanent and has no annual numerical cap at the EB-3 level for many nationalities, unlike H-1B visa renewals. Once your I-140 is approved, your priority date is locked in even if you change employers under AC21 portability.
Green Card Security Product Manager: Frequently Asked Questions
Do Security Product Manager roles qualify for EB-2 or EB-3 green card sponsorship?
Most Security Product Manager positions qualify for EB-3 as skilled workers requiring a bachelor's degree, and many qualify for EB-2 when the role requires an advanced degree or the employer can demonstrate the position requires specialized knowledge beyond a standard four-year program. Your employer's PERM filing must document the educational and experience requirements the role genuinely demands.
How does PERM green card sponsorship differ from H-1B for this role?
H-1B is a temporary nonimmigrant status with a six-year base limit and an annual lottery. PERM-based green card sponsorship leads to permanent residency with no lottery and, for many nationalities at the EB-3 level, no meaningful numerical backlog. The tradeoff is timeline: PERM labor certification alone takes 12 to 18 months before the I-140 petition stage, so you and your employer need to plan well in advance.
What does the PERM labor market test mean for my Security Product Manager job offer?
Before PERM is filed, your employer must conduct a formal recruitment process showing no qualified U.S. workers are available for the role at the offered wage. For security product roles, this typically includes job postings, campus recruiting, and internal notice. The DOL reviews this recruitment record, so any gaps in documentation can trigger an audit that delays your case by a year or more.
Where can I find Security Product Manager jobs that include green card sponsorship?
Migrate Mate lets you search specifically for Security Product Manager roles where employers have a documented history of EB-2 and EB-3 PERM sponsorship. Filtering by verified sponsorship history saves you from applying to roles where sponsorship is theoretically possible but the employer has never actually filed a PERM case for a product management position.
Can I switch employers after my PERM is filed without losing my green card progress?
You can change employers under AC21 portability once your I-140 petition has been approved and your adjustment of status application has been pending for at least 180 days, provided the new role is in the same or a similar occupational classification. Security product management roles at different companies typically satisfy this same-or-similar standard, but your new employer's immigration counsel should confirm the classification match before you accept a new offer.
