Job Description
Own client workstreams from discovery through delivery. You’ll translate ambiguous goals into buildable plans, ship thin-slice outcomes rapidly, and harden them into production-ready solutions with quality, security, and observability. You’ll set patterns others can follow and actively use AI-assisted engineering safely (catching hallucinations, strengthening tests, and accelerating migrations/refactors).
Responsibilities
- Lead discovery-to-delivery cycles: scope, milestones, acceptance criteria, and risk management.
- Design and implement scalable UI architecture (React/Angular) and reliable Python services/APIs.
- Drive SQL performance work: window functions/CTEs, indexing strategy, query plan analysis, correctness guarantees.
- Establish team patterns: review checklists, testing standards, “definition of done,” and reusable components.
- Lead delivery hardening: CI/CD reliability, build/test automation, environment parity, and container-first local dev patterns.
- Improve observability: logs/metrics/traces and production debugging playbooks.
- Coach engineers on SOLID/MVC boundaries, DRY/KISS tradeoffs, and safe refactors.
- Lead AI-first workflows: spec + context packages, prompt patterns, verification gates, and regression tests.
Qualifications
6+ years equivalent production experience (or strong demonstrated senior-level impact).
Strong React/Angular architecture and testing discipline.
Strong Python service design, testing, and debugging at production scale.
Advanced SQL: windows/CTEs/joins, performance tuning, explain plans, indexing intuition.
Demonstrated leadership: mentoring, ownership, and stakeholder communication.
Preferred qualifications
- Prior FDE/consulting/embedded engineering experience.
- Experience building reusable reference implementations and delivery accelerators.
- Experience improving CI/CD pipelines and Dockerized dev environments across teams.
- Strong security/compliance awareness (OWASP; secure-by-default patterns).
Success in first 90 days
- Leads at least one client workstream end-to-end with measurable outcomes.
- Increases delivery velocity via reusable patterns and clearer specs.
- Raises quality: stronger tests, better observability, fewer regressions.
Additional Information
The starting pay range for this role is $140,000 - $150,000. Actual compensation within the range will be dependent on several factors including but not limited to relevant experience, skills, certifications, training, and location. It is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range and determining factors for compensation are considered for each individual circumstance.
