Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding Green Card Sponsorship as a Senior Mobile Developer
Document your mobile specialization before applying
PERM requires your employer to advertise a specific role, so your resume and portfolio must clearly reflect the specialty the job demands, whether that's iOS, Android, React Native, or Flutter. Generic "full-stack" framing weakens the case.
Target employers with PERM filing history
Use the OFLC Wage Search to look up certified PERM applications for mobile developer job titles. Employers who have filed before understand the process and are far less likely to withdraw sponsorship mid-petition due to cost or timeline concerns.
Find green card sponsoring employers on Migrate Mate
Migrate Mate lets you filter Senior Mobile Developer roles by employers who have sponsored green cards before. Start your search there to avoid spending time on companies unfamiliar with PERM or unwilling to cover the multi-year commitment.
Clarify EB-2 versus EB-3 eligibility with your employer
If the posted role requires only a bachelor's degree, it will likely be filed under EB-3. If you hold a master's or your employer can justify an advanced-degree requirement, EB-2 may be available and can mean shorter waits for most nationalities.
Ask about concurrent filing before accepting an offer
Once your priority date is current, USCIS allows concurrent filing of your I-140 and I-485, significantly compressing the timeline. Confirm your prospective employer's counsel is familiar with this option, as not all HR teams proactively plan for it.
Understand that PERM restarts if you change employers
Unlike H-1B visa portability after 180 days of I-140 approval, PERM certification belongs to the sponsoring employer. If you switch jobs before your I-485 is filed, the entire PERM process generally restarts from scratch with the new company.
Green Card Senior Mobile Developer: Frequently Asked Questions
Does a Senior Mobile Developer role qualify for EB-2 or EB-3 sponsorship?
It depends on how the employer defines the minimum requirements for the position. If the job genuinely requires a bachelor's degree in computer science or a related field, EB-3 applies. If the role requires a master's degree or equivalent, EB-2 is available. The degree requirement must reflect the actual job duties, not just what you personally hold, because DOL reviews the position itself during PERM labor certification.
How does green card sponsorship differ from H-1B for a Senior Mobile Developer?
Green card sponsorship through PERM and I-140 is permanent and has no annual lottery. H-1B is a temporary status subject to the annual 85,000-cap lottery. The trade-off is time: PERM labor certification alone can take six months to over a year before the I-140 is even filed. For nationals of India or China, priority date backlogs add years. For most other countries, EB-3 wait times are short enough that starting PERM early in your career is a practical strategy.
What does the PERM process actually require from a Senior Mobile Developer candidate?
Your employer bears the filing burden, but your credentials must match the approved job description exactly. DOL requires the employer to conduct a supervised recruitment campaign and certify no qualified U.S. workers were available. Your degree transcripts, any credential evaluations for foreign degrees, and your employment history must align precisely with the role requirements documented in the PERM application. Discrepancies between your resume and the certified job description can cause USCIS to deny the I-140.
How do I find employers willing to sponsor a green card for a Senior Mobile Developer role?
Use Migrate Mate to search Senior Mobile Developer positions filtered by employers with green card sponsorship history. Companies that have completed PERM filings before are more likely to have established processes and legal teams familiar with the timeline and cost. Focusing your outreach on these employers reduces the risk of a sponsoring company abandoning the process midway due to unfamiliarity with PERM requirements.
Can I change jobs after my employer files PERM for a Senior Mobile Developer position?
Changing employers before your I-485 is filed generally means starting over, because PERM certification is tied to the sponsoring employer and the specific job. Once your I-140 has been approved for 180 days and your I-485 is pending, you gain portability rights under AC21, which lets you move to a same or similar occupation. For a Senior Mobile Developer, a move to a comparable senior-level engineering role at a new employer would typically qualify under AC21 portability.
