Green Card Senior Test Automation Engineer Jobs
Senior Test Automation Engineer roles qualify for EB-2 or EB-3 green card sponsorship through PERM labor certification, which requires your employer to document that no qualified U.S. worker is available for the position. Employers across software, fintech, and healthcare tech regularly file PERM petitions for automation engineers with deep framework expertise.

Document your automation framework expertise early
Your PERM petition hinges on a specific job description matching your credentials. Catalog every framework you've built production-level test suites in, Selenium, Cypress, Playwright, or Appium, so your employer can draft a defensible specialty occupation job description.
Target employers with active PERM filing history
Search OFLC disclosure data filtered by SOC code 15-1253 to find companies that have previously sponsored test automation roles. Prior PERM filings for the same job title signal an employer already understands the process and won't hesitate at sponsorship costs.
Clarify EB-2 versus EB-3 eligibility before applying
Senior automation engineers with a master's degree or a bachelor's plus five years of progressively responsible experience often qualify for EB-2, which skips the EB-3 skilled-worker queue. Confirm your degree equivalency with your employer's immigration counsel before the PERM is drafted.
Find green card sponsoring employers on Migrate Mate
Filter by Senior Test Automation Engineer roles on Migrate Mate to surface companies with verified green card sponsorship history. You'll see which employers have filed PERM petitions for this job title, cutting weeks off your employer research.
Negotiate PERM timing into your offer conversation
Employers often delay PERM filing until you've passed a probationary period, sometimes 12 months or more. Ask during offer negotiations whether the company will commit to a PERM filing timeline in writing, and whether they cover legal fees.
Understand how prevailing wage affects your job description
DOL assigns a prevailing wage level using your actual duties, not your job title. If your PERM job description overstates seniority to qualify for EB-2, DOL may assign a Level IV wage your employer isn't prepared to pay. Use OFLC Wage Search to cross-check before the petition is filed.
Green Card Senior Test Automation Engineer: Frequently Asked Questions
Does a Senior Test Automation Engineer role qualify for EB-2 or EB-3 sponsorship?
Both categories can apply depending on your credentials. EB-3 covers professionals with a bachelor's degree in computer science, software engineering, or a related field. EB-2 requires either an advanced degree or a bachelor's plus five years of progressive experience, which many senior automation engineers can demonstrate. Your employer's PERM job description determines which category USCIS evaluates your petition under.
How does PERM green card sponsorship differ from H-1B for this role?
H-1B visa is a temporary nonimmigrant status with a 6-year base limit and an annual lottery, while PERM leads to permanent residency with no cap lottery at the petition stage. The PERM process requires your employer to conduct a formal labor market test before filing the I-140 immigrant petition. For most countries outside India and China, EB-3 priority dates for software roles move relatively quickly, making the green card path more predictable than H-1B renewals.
How long does the PERM and green card process take for automation engineers?
DOL PERM audit-free cases currently process in roughly six to twelve months, though audit triggers can add another year. After PERM certification, your employer files the I-140 with USCIS, which takes several months at standard processing. Adjustment of status or consular processing follows once your priority date becomes current. Total timelines from PERM filing to a green card commonly run two to four years for applicants born outside India and China.
What makes a Senior Test Automation Engineer job description PERM-compliant?
DOL requires the job description to reflect the actual minimum requirements for the role, not your personal qualifications. For automation engineers, that means specifying the frameworks, languages, and CI/CD tools genuinely required on day one. Overstating requirements to match a candidate's advanced credentials is a common audit trigger. Your employer and their immigration attorney should align the description with current team needs and the DOL O*NET profile for the occupation before the PERM is posted.
Where can I find employers who sponsor green cards for Senior Test Automation Engineer roles?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for this search. You can filter for Senior Test Automation Engineer positions and see which employers have a documented history of green card sponsorship for this job title, based on PERM disclosure data. That filters out companies that say they're open to sponsorship but have never filed a PERM, so you're targeting employers who have actually done it before.
