Green Card UX Product Design Jobs
UX Product Design roles qualify for EB-2 and EB-3 green card sponsorship through the PERM labor certification process, which requires employers to document recruitment efforts before filing. Most mid-size to large tech and product companies have established PERM workflows, making this field one of the more accessible paths to permanent residency for foreign design professionals.

INTRODUCTION
Skydio is the leading US drone company and the world leader in autonomous flight, the key technology for the future of drones and aerial mobility. The Skydio team combines deep expertise in artificial intelligence, best-in-class hardware and software product development, operational excellence, and customer obsession to empower a broader, more diverse audience of drone users, from utility inspectors to first responders, soldiers in battlefield scenarios, and beyond.
The Challenge
Our products are used by professionals with a lot on the line, operating in rugged environments where every second counts. Their mission is clear: find the missing person, get the lights back on, keep the roads open, and keep the good guys safe. Our mandate is to solve one of the most complex problems of our time: how to build autonomous flying robots that help them get the job done, no matter what. If reading that excites you, we want to talk to you. Skydio isn’t just building drones; we are defining the future of autonomous robotics. To win, our products must be more than just capable, they must be undeniably reliable.
ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES
We are looking for a UX Product Design Lead who understands that trust isn't a buzzword; it's built through absolute system transparency, pragmatic workflows, and giving the operator a clear handle to grab when things get chaotic. You will help us invent the interfaces of the future. You will not be designing generic dashboards. You will be designing the critical trust-bridge between human operators and advanced AI hardware, translating extreme technological complexity into intuitive, reliable, and beautiful experiences.
About The Role
As a Design Lead, you are a trailblazer. You thrive on solving problems that have never been solved before. You are equal parts strategic storyteller and hands-on craftsperson. You don't just wait for product requirements; you help define the vision, use narrative to align Engineering and Product, and execute with an incredibly high bar for detail. You will work directly with Design Leadership, Product Managers, and Engineers to map out Critical User Journeys (CUJs) and build cross-platform experiences (Web, Mobile, Ground Control Stations) that our customers implicitly trust.
How You'll Make An Impact
- Design for Trust: Lead the UX strategy and execution for our core platforms (including remote operations). You will build interfaces for autonomous flying robots that make the operator trust the job will get done, ensuring every interaction reinforces confidence, reliability, and system transparency.
- Solve Unsolved Problems: Tackle complex challenges where there is no existing playbook. You will think pragmatically and creatively to design interfaces for remote hardware sensing, 3D spatial awareness, and AI-driven missions.
- Drive the Narrative: Use exceptional storytelling to communicate user needs, frame complex problems, and align Engineering, Product Management, and Executive leadership around a unified, grounded design vision.
- Elevate the Craft: Bring an uncompromising attention to detail and craftsmanship to the team. You will build high-fidelity prototypes to test assumptions quickly, leveraging AI tools as a seamless part of your daily process to move faster and explore wider.
- Get in the Field: Go on-site with our customers to deeply understand their chaotic, high-stress environments. Bring that "ground truth" back to the studio so it informs every pixel.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- First-Principles Problem Solver: You are an out-of-the-box thinker who loves operating in ambiguous spaces where no existing design patterns exist.
- Uncompromising Craftsmanship: A portfolio that clearly demonstrates an exceptionally high bar for visual design, complex systems architecture, and attention to detail.
- Strategic Leadership: You have a proven track record of driving design strategy at a senior/lead level, actively shaping product roadmaps rather than just taking orders.
- Fluency in Complexity: Demonstrated experience shipping products in highly technical disciplines. We want to see portfolios featuring: Robotics Controls, Avionics, Geospatial/Mapping, Heavy Data/Fleet Management, or Remote Hardware Sensing.
- Prototyping Chops ("You Build to Think"): You can quickly mock up interactive prototypes to prove out concepts before Engineering writes a line of production code. You also actively integrate AI tools into your daily workflow to increase velocity and explore wider.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Deep understanding of Android-based HIG and Mobile Design Patterns for physical hardware controllers.
- Front-end coding ability (HTML/CSS/Javascript) to help bridge the gap with engineering.
- Obtaining FAA Part 107 certification within the first 60 days of employment is strongly encouraged for all Skydio employees and required for certain positions.

Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding Green Card Sponsorship in UX Product Design
Build a portfolio that proves specialty occupation
PERM and I-140 approval depends on demonstrating the role requires at least a bachelor's degree in a specific field. Document each project with the design methods, tools, and business outcomes involved so your portfolio directly supports the specialty occupation argument.
Target employers with active PERM filing history
Companies that have filed PERM applications for UX or product design roles before have the HR infrastructure and legal counsel to do it again. Search DOL PERM disclosure data to verify whether a prospective employer has sponsored similar roles before pursuing an offer.
Search green card sponsoring roles on Migrate Mate
Migrate Mate filters UX Product Design roles by employers with employment-based green card sponsorship history, so you can focus applications on companies already familiar with the PERM process rather than educating employers from scratch.
Understand how EB-2 versus EB-3 affects your timeline
EB-2 requires an advanced degree or a National Interest Waiver, while EB-3 covers professionals with a bachelor's degree. For most countries, EB-3 priority dates move differently than EB-2, so confirm your country's current Visa Bulletin cutoff before deciding which category to pursue.
Negotiate PERM filing into your offer discussion
Many UX design job offers don't mention green card sponsorship by default. Raise it before signing, not after. Ask whether the company has sponsored PERM for design roles previously and confirm sponsorship is written into your employment agreement.
Verify your degree equivalency before USCIS adjudicates
A three-year bachelor's degree from outside the U.S. may require a credential evaluation to satisfy USCIS specialty occupation standards for EB-2. Get a credentials evaluation early so your employer's attorney can incorporate it into the I-140 petition documentation.
Green Card UX Product Design: Frequently Asked Questions
Do UX Product Design roles qualify for EB-2 or EB-3 green card sponsorship?
Most UX Product Design positions qualify for EB-3 as a professional role requiring at least a bachelor's degree in design, human-computer interaction, or a related field. EB-2 applies if your role requires an advanced degree or if you pursue a National Interest Waiver. Your employer's immigration attorney confirms the correct category based on the job description and your credentials.
How does green card sponsorship differ from H-1B for a UX designer?
H-1B visa is a temporary nonimmigrant status with a two to three year duration, subject to the annual lottery for most applicants. EB-2 and EB-3 green card sponsorship through PERM is a permanent pathway with no lottery, no cap concerns for most nationalities at the EB-3 level, and no annual renewal cycle. The PERM process takes longer upfront, typically 12 to 24 months from labor certification to I-140 approval, but the outcome is lawful permanent residency rather than a visa requiring renewal.
What does the PERM labor certification process involve for a UX design role?
Your employer files a PERM application with DOL to certify that no qualified U.S. workers are available for your specific role. This requires a documented recruitment campaign, prevailing wage compliance verified through the OFLC Wage Search, and a detailed job description. The employer bears the cost and administrative burden. The process typically runs six to twelve months before the I-140 immigrant petition can be filed.
How can I find UX Product Design jobs that offer green card sponsorship?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for this search. It surfaces UX Product Design roles at employers with verified employment-based green card sponsorship history, so you can focus your time on companies already set up to file PERM rather than discovering after an offer that an employer has never sponsored before.
Can a UX designer self-petition for a green card without an employer?
Yes, but only through the EB-1A extraordinary ability or EB-2 National Interest Waiver routes, both of which require substantial evidence of recognized achievement in your field. For most UX designers, employer-sponsored PERM through EB-2 or EB-3 is the practical path. Self-petition options exist but carry a significantly higher evidentiary burden and are not guaranteed by meeting the base specialty occupation definition.
