Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding Green Card Sponsorship as a Videographer
Document your specialized production credentials early
Compile a portfolio that demonstrates field-specific expertise: broadcast credits, commercial production work, or post-production software certifications. PERM audits scrutinize whether a foreign worker's qualifications genuinely match the advertised role, so documented specializations strengthen your case.
Target employers with established PERM filing history
Production studios, broadcast networks, and university media departments file PERM applications far more frequently than small freelance shops. Search DOL's OFLC Wage Search to confirm an employer has filed for videographer or media production roles before you apply.
Find green card sponsoring videographer jobs on Migrate Mate
Search Migrate Mate to filter videographer openings by employers with active EB-2 or EB-3 sponsorship history. Targeting employers who have already navigated PERM filings for similar roles reduces friction when negotiating sponsorship into your offer.
Negotiate sponsorship terms before accepting any offer
Confirm in writing that the employer will cover PERM filing costs and attorney fees before your start date. DOL prohibits passing most PERM-related costs to the employee, so any cost-sharing clause in your offer letter is a compliance red flag.
Align your job title with the O*NET occupation profile
PERM applications require a Standard Occupational Classification code that matches your actual duties. Ask your employer to reference the O*NET videographer profile when drafting the job description to avoid misclassification delays or audit exposure during DOL review.

Find Videographer JobsVideographer Green Card Sponsorship: Frequently Asked Questions
Do videographer roles qualify for EB-2 or EB-3 green card sponsorship?
Most videographer positions qualify under EB-3 as skilled workers when the role requires at least a bachelor's degree in film, media production, or communications. EB-2 sponsorship is available for roles that specifically require an advanced degree or where the candidate has strong professional credentials that meet USCIS advanced-degree standards. Your employer's job description and minimum requirements determine which category applies.
How does PERM green card sponsorship differ from H-1B for videographers?
H-1B is a temporary work visa capped at 85,000 per year and subject to an annual lottery, while PERM-based EB-2 and EB-3 sponsorship has no annual lottery and leads to permanent residency. The PERM process is longer overall, typically spanning one to three years before you receive your green card, but it eliminates re-registration risk and the uncertainty of lottery selection that H-1B requires.
What does the PERM labor certification process require from a videographer's employer?
The employer must conduct a supervised recruitment process through DOL to demonstrate that no qualified U.S. worker was available for the role. This includes posting the position, conducting interviews, and documenting rejection reasons for U.S. applicants. Once certified, the employer files an I-140 immigrant petition with USCIS on your behalf before you can file for adjustment of status.
How can I find videographer jobs where employers are open to green card sponsorship?
Use Migrate Mate to search for videographer and media production roles filtered by employers with documented EB-2 or EB-3 sponsorship history. Focusing on employers who have filed PERM applications for similar roles before significantly improves your chances of finding a team already familiar with the process and willing to sponsor.
Can a freelance or contract videographer position qualify for PERM sponsorship?
No. PERM requires a bona fide full-time, permanent employment relationship between you and the sponsoring employer. Contract, project-based, or freelance arrangements do not meet DOL's requirements for labor certification. You need a direct-hire offer with standard employment benefits and a permanent position before your employer can begin the PERM filing process.
