Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding H-1B Visa Sponsorship in Audiologist
Check prevailing wages before negotiating salary
Your employer's LCA must certify a wage at or above the DOL prevailing wage for your metro area and experience level. Run your job title and location through the OFLC Wage Search before you enter any salary conversation.
Target employers with active LCA filing history
Search Migrate Mate to filter audiologist roles by verified H-1B LCA filing history, so you're applying to employers who have already navigated the sponsorship process rather than ones who are unfamiliar with it.
Understand how hospital systems file cap-exempt
Nonprofit hospitals and university-affiliated medical centers often qualify as cap-exempt H-1B employers, meaning you can start without waiting for the April lottery. Ask HR directly whether the entity files under INA 214(c)(1)(B) exemption.
Time your offer letter around the I-129 deadline
For cap-subject roles, USCIS opens H-1B registration in March and employment can't begin before October 1. Make sure your offer letter specifies a start date that accounts for this gap so neither you nor the employer is caught off guard.
Confirm your clinical licensure state by state
Every state requires a separate audiology license, and USCIS may request proof of licensure in your LCA state during an RFE. Secure your state license or a temporary permit before your employer submits the petition.

Find Audiologist JobsAudiologist H-1B Visa: Frequently Asked Questions
Does an Audiologist role qualify as a specialty occupation for H-1B purposes?
Yes. Audiology qualifies as a specialty occupation under USCIS criteria because the position normally requires at least a Doctor of Audiology (Au.D.) degree in a directly related field. The O*NET profile for audiologists confirms the doctoral-level entry requirement, which supports the specialty occupation determination in the I-129 petition.
Which types of employers sponsor H-1B visas for audiologists?
Hospitals, ENT clinics, hearing aid dispensing centers, Veterans Affairs facilities, school districts, and university audiology departments all file H-1B petitions for audiologists. Nonprofit hospitals and academic medical centers are often cap-exempt, so they can sponsor year-round without entering the lottery. Browse verified sponsoring employers on Migrate Mate to see which have active LCA filing history for this role.
How does the H-1B cap lottery affect audiologists seeking sponsorship?
If your employer is a for-profit entity not affiliated with a university or nonprofit research institution, your petition enters the annual H-1B cap lottery, which USCIS opens in March each year. Cap-exempt employers, such as nonprofit hospitals or university clinics, can file any time without lottery selection, making them a strategically important category for audiologists who can't wait for an October 1 start date.
What wage level does an employer need to certify on the LCA for an Audiologist?
The employer's Labor Condition Application must certify payment at or above the DOL prevailing wage for audiology in the specific metropolitan area where you'll work. Prevailing wages are split into four levels based on experience and supervisory responsibility. You can verify the applicable wage level for your location using the OFLC Wage Search before accepting any offer.
Can an audiologist on H-1B work across multiple clinic locations?
Yes, but each worksite location must be covered by a separate certified LCA if it falls in a different metropolitan statistical area. Your employer needs to post LCA notices at each location and, if a new city is added after your initial approval, file an amended I-129 with USCIS to update the worksite. This is a common compliance gap for audiologists working across a hospital network or mobile audiology program.
