Document your degree-to-role alignment early
USCIS scrutinizes Client Partner petitions for specialty occupation proof. Pull your transcripts and map coursework in business, marketing, or management directly to your job duties before your employer files Form I-129.
Search verified H-1B sponsors on Migrate Mate
Filter Client Partner openings by employers with active H-1B Labor Condition Application filings in your target industry. Migrate Mate surfaces DOL LCA data by occupation and employer, so you avoid wasting applications on companies without a sponsorship track record.
Confirm the prevailing wage tier before negotiating
Your offer must meet the DOL prevailing wage for your work location. Look up the Level I through Level IV wage for your specific SOC code and metro area using the OFLC Wage Search before salary discussions begin.
Target consulting and SaaS employers with cap-exempt status
Universities, nonprofits, and certain research organizations can file H-1B petitions outside the annual 85,000-slot cap. Client Partner roles exist at these institutions, and cap-exempt filing means no lottery risk and year-round petition submission.
Prepare a client portfolio that demonstrates specialty work
If USCIS issues a Request for Evidence on specialty occupation, a portfolio of complex strategic engagements, revenue tied to specialized knowledge, or cross-functional leadership strengthens your employer's response significantly more than a job description alone.
Understand the 60-day grace period when switching employers
If you're changing Client Partner roles between sponsors, you have up to 60 days after your previous employment ends before your H-1B status is at risk. Your new employer must file a transfer petition within that window for you to maintain continuous authorization.

Find Client Partner JobsClient Partner H-1B Visa: Frequently Asked Questions
Does a Client Partner role qualify as an H-1B specialty occupation?
Yes, in most cases. USCIS requires that the position normally requires a bachelor's degree or higher in a specific specialty. Client Partner roles at mid-to-large employers in consulting, SaaS, and professional services typically require degrees in business, marketing, or management, which satisfies the specialty occupation standard. Roles that accept any degree or no degree requirement will face greater scrutiny.
Which industries sponsor H-1B visas most often for Client Partner roles?
Technology and SaaS companies, management consulting firms, digital marketing agencies, and enterprise software providers are the most active H-1B sponsors for Client Partner titles. These employers regularly file Labor Condition Applications for this role category. You can identify employers with verified H-1B LCA filing history for this title by searching on Migrate Mate.
Can my employer file an H-1B transfer if I'm changing Client Partner positions mid-year?
Yes. H-1B portability under AC21 allows you to start working for a new employer once the transfer petition is filed, as long as your previous H-1B was approved and you've been in valid status. You don't need to wait for the transfer to be approved. The new employer must file before or within 60 days of your last day at the prior employer.
How does the DOL prevailing wage requirement affect Client Partner job offers?
Your employer must pay you at least the DOL prevailing wage for your specific occupation code and work location. Client Partner roles often map to SOC codes in sales management or business development. If the offered salary falls below the prevailing wage level for your metro area, USCIS will deny the petition. Use the OFLC Wage Search to verify the applicable wage before accepting any offer.
Does a Client Partner role at a nonprofit or university avoid the H-1B lottery?
Yes, if the employer qualifies as cap-exempt. Institutions of higher education, affiliated nonprofits, and certain research organizations are not subject to the 85,000-slot annual cap or the lottery. If you hold a Client Partner or strategic partnership role at a qualifying institution, your employer can file your H-1B petition at any time of year without waiting for the April registration window.
