H-1B Visa Clinical Support Specialist Jobs
Clinical Support Specialist roles sit at the intersection of healthcare operations and patient-facing support, making them strong candidates for H-1B specialty occupation classification when tied to a bachelor's degree in a directly related field. Target employers with active LCA filings
Search DOL's public LCA disclosure data for 'Clinical Support Specialist' filings before applying. Employers who've filed LCAs for this title in the past two years have already established the specialty occupation case internally, which reduces your risk of an RFE.
Use Migrate Mate to find verified sponsors
Filter your search on Migrate Mate by this job title to surface employers with confirmed H-1B filing history. That filing history tells you which companies have successfully petitioned for this exact role, not just which ones say they sponsor.
Request a prevailing wage determination early
Ask your prospective employer to run the OFLC Wage Search for your job title, SOC code, and work location before the offer is finalized. If the offered salary doesn't meet the prevailing wage, the LCA can't be certified and the H-1B process stalls.
Gather clinical documentation before the offer stage
Collect transcripts, credential evaluations, and any clinical certifications before you enter negotiations. Employers filing H-1B petitions need these to build the specialty occupation argument, and delays in getting them can push your start date past the October 1 cap-subject deadline.
Clarify whether the role is cap-exempt
Clinical Support Specialists employed by nonprofit hospitals, academic medical centers, or research institutions affiliated with universities may qualify for cap-exempt H-1B filing. Cap-exempt petitions can be filed year-round with no lottery, so confirm your employer's status with USCIS before assuming you need to wait for the April registration window.

Find Clinical Support Specialist JobsClinical Support Specialist H-1B Visa: Frequently Asked Questions
Does a Clinical Support Specialist role qualify as an H-1B specialty occupation?
It can, but it's not automatic. USCIS requires the position to normally demand at least a bachelor's degree in a specific related field, such as health sciences, clinical informatics, or biomedical engineering. Generic support roles that accept any degree field are harder to defend. The job description needs to tie specific duties to that degree field to hold up under scrutiny.
How do I find Clinical Support Specialist jobs at companies that actually sponsor H-1B visas?
Search Migrate Mate, which filters listings by verified H-1B filing history pulled from DOL LCA disclosure data. That tells you which employers have petitioned for this specific role before, not just which ones check a 'visa sponsorship' box on a job posting. Employers with a track record for this title have already established the specialty occupation argument internally.
Which industries hire Clinical Support Specialists on H-1B visas most frequently?
Medical device companies, electronic health record vendors, hospital systems, and health IT firms file LCAs for this title regularly. Companies deploying clinical software often need specialists who can bridge the gap between technical teams and clinical staff, and those roles tend to require the kind of degree-specific background that supports an H-1B specialty occupation claim.
What happens to my H-1B status if my Clinical Support Specialist role changes significantly after approval?
A material change in job duties, work location, or employer can require an amended H-1B petition before the change takes effect. Moving to a different client site or shifting to a substantially different scope of clinical duties without filing an amendment puts your status at risk. Your employer's immigration counsel should assess whether any change triggers an amendment obligation.
Can I use O*NET to strengthen the specialty occupation argument for this role?
Yes. The O*NET occupation profile for Clinical Support Specialists lists education and knowledge requirements that employers and attorneys use to build the specialty occupation case in Form I-129 petitions. Pulling the O*NET job zone classification and required knowledge fields gives you and your employer concrete DOL-sourced evidence that the role normally demands a related bachelor's degree.
