Frame your degree for specialty occupation
USCIS evaluates whether your bachelor's degree directly relates to customer solutions work. A degree in business, computer science, or information systems strengthens the specialty occupation argument far more than a general arts degree does.
Search LCA filings by occupation code
Customer Solutions Manager roles file under SOC codes like 11-2021 or 13-1161. Use the OFLC Wage Search to find companies that have certified LCAs for those codes, then target your applications there.
Prioritize E-Verify enrolled employers
If you're on OPT cap-gap, your employer must be E-Verify enrolled for your work authorization to extend past your EAD expiration. Confirm enrollment before accepting an offer, not after.
Use Migrate Mate to filter verified sponsors
Pull up Customer Solutions Manager roles on Migrate Mate to see which employers have active H-1B LCA filing history for this specific role type, so you're not guessing at sponsorship willingness during interviews.
Clarify premium processing before signing
Customer solutions roles often have target start dates tied to client onboarding cycles. Confirm with your hiring manager whether the company will file under premium processing, which gives USCIS a 15-business-day adjudication window.
Document cross-functional scope in your offer letter
H-1B petitions for customer solutions roles face RFEs when the job duties read as general management. Ask HR to include specific technical and analytical responsibilities in your offer letter to support the specialty occupation classification.
H-1B Visa Customer Solutions Manager: Frequently Asked Questions
Does a Customer Solutions Manager role qualify as a specialty occupation for H-1B purposes?
Yes, if the position requires a bachelor's degree or higher in a specific field such as business administration, computer science, or engineering. Generic management roles without a defined degree requirement can draw RFEs. The stronger your offer letter ties daily responsibilities to a specific discipline, the cleaner the specialty occupation argument becomes at USCIS.
Which industries sponsor H-1B visas most often for this role?
SaaS companies, enterprise software vendors, cloud infrastructure providers, and large consulting firms file the most H-1B LCAs for Customer Solutions Manager positions. These employers deal with technically complex products where a degree-backed understanding of the platform is genuinely required. You can filter by employer and occupation on Migrate Mate to see which companies have active filing history for this role type.
Can I transfer my H-1B to a new employer if I change Customer Solutions Manager jobs?
Yes. Under AC21 portability, you can start working for a new employer as soon as they file an H-1B transfer petition, provided your current petition has been approved and you've been in valid H-1B status. You don't need to wait for the transfer to be approved. Confirm the new role is also in a specialty occupation to avoid classification issues.
What happens to my H-1B status if my employer loses the contract I was hired to support?
If your employment ends, you enter a 60-day grace period to find a new employer and file a transfer petition, change to another nonimmigrant status, or leave the U.S. Losing a contract does not automatically end your H-1B status immediately, but your employer is required to notify USCIS if they terminate your employment before your petition expires.
How do I verify that a company's H-1B sponsorship offer is genuine before I accept?
Ask HR to confirm they've sponsored H-1B visas before and whether they have immigration counsel on retainer. You can also check the DOL OFLC disclosure data for recent LCA certifications under the company name and relevant occupation code. Employers with a consistent LCA filing history for customer-facing roles are lower risk than those sponsoring for the first time.
