H-1B Visa Data Manager Jobs
Data Manager roles qualify for H-1B sponsorship as specialty occupations requiring a bachelor's degree in information management, computer science, or a related field. Employers file a Labor Condition Application with DOL before petitioning USCIS, and the annual cap and lottery mean timing your job search around the April filing window matters.

Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding H-1B Visa Sponsorship as a Data Manager
Frame your degree for specialty occupation
USCIS requires your degree field to directly relate to data management duties. A computer science or information systems degree maps cleanly, but a business degree needs supplemental coursework or certifications in database systems to strengthen the specialty occupation argument.
Target employers with cap-exempt status
Universities, nonprofit research institutions, and government-affiliated entities can file H-1B petitions year-round outside the annual cap. Data Manager roles at these organizations give you a path that bypasses the lottery entirely.
Use Migrate Mate to filter verified sponsors
Search Data Manager positions on Migrate Mate to see employers with confirmed H-1B LCA filing history for this exact occupation code, so you're not guessing whether a company has sponsored this role before.
Verify your prevailing wage tier before negotiating
Look up your target metro area and SOC code in the OFLC Wage Search before salary discussions. Your employer's LCA must certify wages at or above the prevailing wage, and knowing your tier prevents offers that USCIS will flag during adjudication.
Document your data governance scope for the LCA
Your employer's Labor Condition Application must accurately describe your role's duties and required education. Vague job descriptions attract Requests for Evidence, so ensure your offer letter specifies database oversight, data quality controls, and the degree requirement tied to those responsibilities.

Find Data Manager JobsData Manager H-1B Visa: Frequently Asked Questions
Does a Data Manager role qualify as a specialty occupation for H-1B purposes?
Yes, provided the position requires at least a bachelor's degree in a directly related field such as information systems, computer science, or data science. USCIS reviews the job duties and the employer's actual hiring practices, so the offer letter and job description must consistently reflect that a specific degree is a genuine requirement, not a preference.
How do I find employers who have sponsored H-1B visas for Data Manager roles specifically?
Migrate Mate surfaces employers with verified LCA filing history filtered by occupation code, so you can see which companies have sponsored Data Manager positions rather than relying on general H-1B sponsor lists. DOL's public LCA disclosure data is the underlying source, but browsing it directly requires downloading large files and cross-referencing job titles manually.
What happens to my H-1B sponsorship if my employer changes my job title or duties significantly?
A material change in duties, title, or worksite location typically triggers an amended H-1B petition, which requires a new LCA certified by DOL before the amendment is filed with USCIS. For Data Managers, moving from a hands-on database role to a primarily managerial one can constitute a material change, particularly if the SOC code or prevailing wage level shifts.
Can a Data Manager role qualify for an H-1B cap exemption?
It can, if the employer is a qualifying institution. Universities, nonprofit research organizations, and entities affiliated with government research are cap-exempt and can file H-1B petitions at any time of year. Data Manager roles supporting research data infrastructure at these organizations frequently qualify, bypassing the April registration window and lottery entirely.
What documentation should I prepare before an employer files my H-1B petition?
You'll need official transcripts showing a qualifying degree, a credential evaluation if your degree is from outside the United States, and any certifications relevant to data governance or database management that reinforce the specialty occupation argument. Your employer's attorney will also need your I-94 record, current visa stamp, and all prior immigration documentation to prepare the I-129 petition accurately.
