Position Summary
The Senior Manager, Payer Deal Intelligence & Analytics is responsible for leading the analytical strategy, market intelligence, and decision support framework that informs complex deal evaluation, PBM negotiation strategy, and pharmacy reimbursement performance. This role serves as a strategic partner across the organization, translating business priorities, market dynamics, and analytical findings into actionable recommendations that improve deal outcomes and advance pharmacy reimbursement goals.
This role owns the financial models and pre-negotiation intelligence packages that determine how CVS Pharmacy positions itself across a portfolio of pharmacy benefit managers, health plans, third party discount providers and state Medicaid plans. The role builds a multi-year deal strategy that reflects counterparty economics and produces the scenario analysis that establishes where CVS can trade and where it must hold.
Work product from this position is used directly in live negotiations and in recurring cross-functional forums, including the weekly Finance Call and the Payer Operating Strategy meeting. The role is an individual contributor position with direct exposure to senior decision-making and is deliberately structured as a development seat for an analytical professional who intends to grow into deal ownership and portfolio leadership within Payer Relations.
Success is measured by whether CVS enters every material negotiation with a quantified position and a defined walk-away point rather than a reactive one.

Frame your degree for specialty occupation
Deal Desk roles typically require a degree in business, finance, or a related field. Pull your O*NET occupation profile for this title to confirm the degree requirement language USCIS adjudicators expect to see in your petition.
Target SaaS companies with active LCA history
Use Migrate Mate to filter Deal Desk Manager roles by employers with verified LCA filing history. Companies that have filed before understand the prevailing wage process and won't stall at the offer stage over sponsorship logistics.
Verify prevailing wage before negotiating compensation
Your employer's LCA must certify a wage at or above the DOL prevailing rate for your location and job level. Run your title and metro area through the OFLC Wage Search before your offer conversation so you know the floor going in.
Document cross-functional scope in your offer letter
USCIS scrutinizes Deal Desk petitions more when the role description reads like general sales support. Get your offer letter to specify pricing authority, contract governance, and cross-functional ownership, language that maps directly to specialty occupation criteria.
Use your 60-day grace period strategically
If you're transitioning between employers, USCIS allows a 60-day grace period after your previous role ends. File the new I-129 petition before that window closes, your new employer can request premium processing to compress adjudication to 15 business days.
Confirm your employer is E-Verify enrolled before signing
H-1B employers aren't universally required to use E-Verify, but cap-exempt employers and federal contractors are. Ask HR directly, an employer that hasn't run an H-1B petition before may not realize E-Verify enrollment is required in their situation.
H-1B Visa Deal Desk Manager: Frequently Asked Questions
Does a Deal Desk Manager role qualify as an H-1B specialty occupation?
Yes, provided the position requires at least a bachelor's degree in a specific field such as business, finance, economics, or a related discipline. Roles that accept any degree or substitute experience broadly are harder to qualify. The job description needs to specify a direct relationship between the degree field and the duties performed, which USCIS reviews when adjudicating the I-129 petition.
Which industries sponsor H-1B visas most consistently for Deal Desk Managers?
Enterprise SaaS, cloud infrastructure, and financial technology companies sponsor most frequently for this title. These employers run high-volume, recurring deal cycles that justify a dedicated Deal Desk function, and their HR and legal teams typically have established H-1B workflows. You can browse employers with active LCA filing history for this role on Migrate Mate.
How does the prevailing wage requirement affect a Deal Desk Manager offer?
Your employer must file a Labor Condition Application certifying your wage meets or exceeds the DOL prevailing rate for your job title, level, and work location before USCIS will process the I-129. The prevailing wage is tied to the specific metro area where you'll work, not a national average, so offers in high-cost markets like San Francisco or New York carry higher certified minimums.
Can I transfer my H-1B to a new employer mid-year if I change Deal Desk jobs?
Yes. Under H-1B portability rules, you can start working for a new employer as soon as the new I-129 petition is filed with USCIS, as long as your previous status was lawful and the petition is non-frivolous. You don't need to wait for approval. The new employer must file before your authorized stay expires or within the 60-day grace period after your previous employment ends.
What documentation should I prepare before a Deal Desk Manager H-1B petition is filed?
You'll need official transcripts showing a qualifying degree, a detailed job description that maps your duties to the specialty occupation definition, and any professional credentials or certifications relevant to the role. If your degree title doesn't directly match the position, a credential evaluation from a NACES-member organization can bridge the gap. Your employer's attorney will also need the certified LCA before drafting the I-129.
