Frame your degree field precisely
H-1B eligibility for marketing roles hinges on showing your degree directly relates to demand generation work. A business or marketing degree is clean. An unrelated degree needs a clear bridge, so pull your official transcripts and map relevant coursework before applying.
Target B2B SaaS employers filing LCAs
B2B SaaS and enterprise tech companies file the most LCAs for demand generation roles. Search DOL's OFLC Wage Search by SOC code 11-2021 to identify employers actively certifying wages for this occupation before you apply.
Use Migrate Mate to filter verified sponsors
Search Migrate Mate to find Demand Generation Manager roles at employers with confirmed H-1B LCA filing history, so you're not wasting applications on companies that have never sponsored this role.
Negotiate cap-exempt employer options early
Universities, nonprofit research organizations, and certain government-affiliated entities are cap-exempt, meaning your H-1B petition bypasses the annual lottery. If you're open to higher-education or edtech demand generation roles, these employers can file any time of year.
Align your start date with the cap timeline
Cap-subject H-1B petitions have an October 1 employment start date. If you receive an offer in spring, your employer must file by the April deadline. Build this into your negotiation so the offer letter reflects the correct start date from the beginning.
Verify your SOC code matches your responsibilities
USCIS scrutinizes whether demand generation roles qualify as specialty occupations. Check your job description against the O*NET profile for Marketing Managers (SOC 11-2021) to confirm the duties and degree requirements align before your employer files the I-129.
H-1B Visa Demand Generation Manager: Frequently Asked Questions
Does a Demand Generation Manager role qualify as an H-1B specialty occupation?
Yes, provided the role requires at least a bachelor's degree in a directly related field such as marketing, business, or communications. USCIS evaluates the specific job duties, not just the title. Roles focused on pipeline strategy, campaign analytics, and marketing automation platforms are well-positioned, while generalist coordinator roles with loosely defined duties carry more risk of an RFE.
Which industries sponsor H-1B visas most often for demand generation roles?
B2B SaaS, enterprise software, cybersecurity, and fintech companies file the highest volume of LCAs for demand generation and marketing manager roles. These employers run scaled outbound and inbound programs that require dedicated specialists, making them consistent H-1B sponsors. You can browse verified sponsoring employers by role on Migrate Mate to narrow your search.
What happens to my H-1B status if I'm laid off as a Demand Generation Manager?
You have a 60-day grace period after your last day of employment to find a new sponsor, change to another visa status, or leave the country. During that window, you can't work, but you can interview and negotiate offers. Your new employer must file an H-1B transfer before the grace period expires for your status to remain valid.
Can my employer sponsor my H-1B for a remote Demand Generation Manager role?
Yes, but the employer must file a separate LCA for each location where you work regularly, including your home address if you work remotely from a different state. USCIS and DOL require the certified prevailing wage to reflect the actual work location, not the employer's headquarters. Hybrid and fully remote arrangements are manageable but require careful LCA compliance from your employer.
What documentation should I prepare before an employer files my H-1B petition?
Gather your degree transcripts, diploma, and any credential evaluations if your degree is from outside the U.S. You'll also need a copy of your current I-94, prior visa stamps, and any prior H-1B approvals or transfers. USCIS uses these to confirm continuous lawful status and specialty occupation eligibility, so having them organized before your employer engages their attorney speeds up the filing timeline significantly.
