Verify your role meets specialty occupation
Pull the Account Supervisor occupation profile from O*NET to confirm the degree requirement language. Your job duties must align with the specialty occupation standard USCIS uses to evaluate H-1B petitions for this title.
Check employer LCA history before applying
Use Migrate Mate to filter Account Supervisor openings by verified H-1B filing history. Targeting employers who have filed Labor Condition Applications for this exact title reduces the risk of a sponsorship conversation that stalls at HR.
Request an employment start date with cap timing
H-1B cap petitions can only take effect on October 1. When negotiating your offer, ask for a start date that gives the employer time to file in the April registration window without rushing premium processing.
Confirm the employer files under the correct SOC code
Account Supervisor roles sometimes get filed under general advertising or marketing manager codes. Ask the employer's immigration counsel which SOC code they plan to use, since a mismatch between the LCA code and your actual duties can trigger an RFE.
Document client-facing experience for the petition
USCIS scrutinizes whether account management roles require a specific degree rather than general business skills. Gather performance reviews, campaign briefs, and org charts that show your role demands specialized marketing or communications expertise, not just supervisory responsibility.
Check E-Verify enrollment before accepting an offer
Employers must be enrolled in E-Verify to sponsor H-1B workers. Confirm enrollment status before signing an offer letter. An employer that hasn't completed E-Verify onboarding can delay your petition filing by weeks.
H-1B Visa Account Supervisor: Frequently Asked Questions
Does an Account Supervisor role qualify as a specialty occupation for H-1B purposes?
Yes, if the position requires at least a bachelor's degree in a specific field such as marketing, advertising, communications, or business. USCIS evaluates whether the degree requirement is directly tied to the job duties. Roles where any unrelated degree is acceptable or where the requirement is described as preferred rather than required are more likely to receive an RFE.
Which types of employers sponsor H-1B visas for Account Supervisor positions?
Advertising agencies, integrated marketing firms, public relations companies, and large in-house brand teams are the most consistent H-1B filers for Account Supervisor titles. To find employers with verified filing history for this specific role, search on Migrate Mate, which surfaces LCA data from DOL disclosure records so you can see who has sponsored this title before.
Can I transfer my H-1B to a new Account Supervisor role at a different agency?
Yes. Under H-1B portability rules, you can start working for a new employer as soon as the transfer petition is filed, without waiting for approval, provided you are currently in valid H-1B status. The new employer must file a new I-129 with an updated LCA covering the new position's duties and prevailing wage level.
What prevailing wage level typically applies to Account Supervisor H-1B petitions?
Prevailing wage levels are determined by the DOL based on job duties, geography, and the relevant SOC code. Account Supervisor roles are often filed at Level II or Level III depending on the scope of client responsibility and team size. You can look up current wage requirements by location and occupation code using the OFLC Wage Search.
How long does H-1B sponsorship take for an Account Supervisor position?
Standard processing after a lottery selection runs three to six months. The employer's LCA must be certified by DOL, typically within seven business days, before the I-129 petition is filed with USCIS. Employers can pay for premium processing to get a decision within 15 business days. Plan for the October 1 employment start date that applies to cap-subject petitions.
