Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding H-1B Visa Sponsorship in Director Of Professional Services
Document your degree's field alignment
USCIS scrutinizes Director-level petitions for specialty occupation proof. Gather transcripts, credential evaluations, and job descriptions showing your degree field directly ties to the professional services function you'll lead.
Target employers with LCA filing history
Use the OFLC Wage Search to confirm an employer has filed Labor Condition Applications for this job title. Companies with repeated LCA certifications for Director of Professional Services have an established H-1B sponsorship workflow already in place.
Find verified H-1B sponsors on Migrate Mate
Search Migrate Mate to filter Director of Professional Services roles by employers with confirmed H-1B filing history. This cuts out companies that list the role but have never petitioned for a sponsored hire.
Clarify whether the role is cap-exempt
Some consulting firms and nonprofit professional services organizations qualify as cap-exempt H-1B employers. If you're interviewing at a university affiliate or qualifying nonprofit, your petition can be filed outside the annual cap and lottery cycle.
Negotiate filing costs into your offer terms
USCIS prohibits employers from passing mandatory H-1B filing fees to you, but premium processing is negotiable. Confirm during the offer stage whether the employer will cover premium processing to shorten adjudication from several months to 15 business days.
Use O*NET to build your specialty occupation case
The O*NET profile for this occupation lists the typical education and skill requirements USCIS references when evaluating petitions. Cross-reference your offer letter's duties against the O*NET description to preempt a Request for Evidence.

Find Director Of Professional Services JobsDirector Of Professional Services H-1B Visa: Frequently Asked Questions
Does a Director of Professional Services role qualify as an H-1B specialty occupation?
Yes, if the position requires a bachelor's degree or higher in a specific field such as business administration, computer science, or a related discipline. Generic management experience alone doesn't satisfy the requirement. The employer must show the role's complexity demands that specific theoretical knowledge, which well-structured offer letters and job descriptions help establish upfront.
Which industries sponsor H-1B visas most often for this title?
SaaS companies, IT consulting firms, managed services providers, and enterprise software vendors are the most consistent H-1B sponsors for Director of Professional Services roles. These organizations routinely file Labor Condition Applications for this title and have legal and HR infrastructure to support the petition process. You can browse verified employers on Migrate Mate filtered by this job title.
Can I transfer my H-1B to a Director of Professional Services role at a new employer?
Yes. Under H-1B portability rules, you can begin working for a new employer as soon as the transfer petition is filed with USCIS, without waiting for approval. The new employer files an amended I-129 petition and a new LCA. If the job duties differ significantly from your current approved role, USCIS may treat it as a new petition requiring closer specialty occupation review.
What happens to my H-1B status if my employer terminates me in this role?
You have a 60-day grace period from your last day of employment to find a new sponsoring employer, change status, or leave the country. During this window, your former employer is required to pay for your return transportation home if you were involuntarily terminated. Filing a new transfer petition before the 60 days expire restores your ability to work upon filing.
How does the H-1B prevailing wage requirement apply to this position?
Your employer must pay at least the prevailing wage for the Director of Professional Services occupation in the specific geographic area where you'll work. The DOL sets four wage levels based on experience and responsibility. For Director-level roles, employers typically file at Level III or IV. You can verify wage levels using the OFLC Wage Search before evaluating whether an offer is compliant.
