Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding H-1B Visa Sponsorship in Endodontist
Verify your endodontic credentials meet USCIS standards
USCIS classifies endodontics as a specialty occupation requiring a DDS or DMD plus a two-year accredited endodontic residency. Confirm your foreign dental credentials have been evaluated by a NACES-approved agency before applying.
Target DSOs and academic dental programs
Dental service organizations and university dental schools file H-1B petitions far more consistently than solo private practices. Filter your search to group employers with existing LCA filing history, which signals an established sponsorship infrastructure.
Search verified H-1B sponsor history on Migrate Mate
Use Migrate Mate to filter endodontist roles by employers with confirmed DOL LCA filings. This lets you skip outreach to practices that have never sponsored and focus on those with an active H-1B track record.
Check prevailing wage before negotiating your offer
Your employer must pay at least the DOL prevailing wage for an endodontist in your work location. Run the OFLC Wage Search for SOC code 29-1021 before negotiations so you know the wage floor and can spot underpaying offers early.
Clarify cap-gap coverage if transitioning from OPT
If you're finishing a dental or endodontic residency on OPT when your H-1B is approved, cap-gap rules extend your work authorization to October 1. Confirm your employer understands this timeline before your OPT expires to avoid a gap in employment.
Ask employers about premium processing before signing
USCIS premium processing for an H-1B petition guarantees a 15-business-day adjudication decision. Confirm whether your employer will elect premium processing at the offer stage, since most clinical start dates can't accommodate standard processing timelines.
H-1B Visa Endodontist: Frequently Asked Questions
Does an endodontist role qualify as a specialty occupation for H-1B purposes?
Yes. USCIS recognizes endodontics as a specialty occupation because the role requires at minimum a DDS or DMD degree plus completion of an accredited two-year endodontic residency. The advanced postgraduate training requirement satisfies the specialty occupation standard, and endodontists are among the more straightforward dental roles to sponsor under H-1B.
Which types of employers are most likely to sponsor an H-1B for an endodontist?
Dental service organizations, multi-specialty group practices, academic dental schools, and hospital-based oral health programs are the most active H-1B sponsors for endodontists. Solo private practices rarely have the HR infrastructure to file an LCA and I-129 petition. Use Migrate Mate to identify employers with confirmed H-1B filing history for dental specialist roles before you apply.
What is the employer's role in the H-1B filing process for an endodontist?
Your employer initiates the entire process. They must obtain a certified Labor Condition Application from DOL, then file Form I-129 with USCIS on your behalf. They're also required to pay the prevailing wage for an endodontist in your geographic area, as determined by the OFLC Wage Search for SOC code 29-1021. You cannot self-petition for an H-1B.
Can a foreign-trained endodontist get H-1B sponsorship without completing a U.S. residency?
It's possible but more complex. USCIS requires the position to demand at least a bachelor's-equivalent degree in a directly related field. A foreign dental degree plus a foreign endodontic specialty credential may satisfy this, but your employer will likely need a credential evaluation from a NACES-approved service and potentially a professional opinion letter establishing degree equivalency before filing.
Are endodontist H-1B petitions subject to the annual cap and lottery?
Most endodontist positions at private practices or DSOs are cap-subject and entered into the annual H-1B lottery, with registration typically opening in March. However, positions at qualifying nonprofit or government research organizations, or at universities with a hospital affiliation, may be cap-exempt and can be filed at any time of year, bypassing the lottery entirely.
