Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding H-1B Visa Sponsorship in Fashion
Verify your role meets specialty occupation
Fashion job titles vary widely in degree requirements. Pull the O*NET profile for your specific role to confirm it lists a bachelor's degree as typical entry-level education, that documentation strengthens your H-1B petition.
Target brands with LCA filing history
Search DOL Labor Condition Application disclosures to see which fashion companies filed H-1B petitions for roles matching your occupation code. Prioritize employers with multi-year filing patterns, not one-off filings.
Use Migrate Mate to filter verified sponsors
Find fashion employers with confirmed H-1B filing history on Migrate Mate before applying. Filtering by occupation and employer type saves you from pursuing companies that list roles but have no sponsorship track record.
Align your degree field to the job description
USCIS scrutinizes degree-to-role alignment in fashion petitions. A degree in fashion design supports a design role, but a business degree applying for a merchandising position needs a clear nexus argument built into your offer letter.
Ask about LCA filing timing before accepting
Your employer must file and receive DOL certification of the Labor Condition Application before USCIS can adjudicate your H-1B petition. Confirm the employer's HR team understands this sequence and has a timeline ready.
Document portfolio work to support specialty occupation
USCIS RFEs in creative fields often challenge whether the role genuinely requires a degree. Compile evidence that your specific duties, pattern development, technical specification writing, trend forecasting, require degree-level knowledge, not general creative skill.

Find Fashion JobsFashion H-1B Visa: Frequently Asked Questions
Do fashion jobs qualify as H-1B specialty occupations?
Fashion roles qualify when the position normally requires at least a bachelor's degree in a directly related field, such as fashion design, fashion merchandising, or textile science. Roles like technical designer, fashion buyer, or product development manager typically meet the standard. Generalist creative roles with no degree requirement in the job description are harder to support. The O*NET profile for your specific job code is the starting point for building that argument.
Which types of fashion employers sponsor H-1B visas?
Luxury fashion houses, large specialty retailers, wholesale apparel companies, and fashion conglomerates with dedicated HR infrastructure are the most consistent H-1B sponsors. Smaller independent designers and boutique studios rarely sponsor because the legal and filing costs are prohibitive at their scale. Use Migrate Mate to identify fashion employers with verified H-1B filing history before targeting your job search.
What happens to my H-1B status if the fashion company does layoffs?
If your employer terminates your H-1B employment, you have a 60-day grace period to find a new sponsoring employer, change to another visa status, or depart the U.S. The new employer must file an H-1B transfer petition before the grace period expires. Fashion industry layoffs are cyclical, so it's worth identifying backup employers with H-1B filing history as a contingency.
Can a fashion employer sponsor H-1B for a remote or hybrid role?
Yes, but the employer must file a separate Labor Condition Application for each work location where you'll spend more than a few days. If you're working remotely from a location not listed on the LCA, that's a compliance violation. For hybrid fashion roles with travel to showrooms, trade offices, or manufacturing facilities, your employer's immigration counsel needs to document all worksite locations accurately in the filing.
How do I find fashion employers who will sponsor an H-1B?
DOL LCA disclosure data is the most reliable signal. Employers who have filed Labor Condition Applications for fashion-related occupation codes in recent years have demonstrated both the process knowledge and the intent to sponsor. Migrate Mate surfaces this data so you can search verified H-1B sponsors by role type and location, rather than guessing from job postings that don't mention sponsorship.
