Align your resume to SOC codes
Your H-1B petition ties your role to a Standard Occupational Classification code. Full stack roles most often file under Software Developers or Web Developers. Make sure your resume reflects the duties that match the code your employer selects.
Verify prevailing wage before negotiating
Your employer's LCA must certify a wage at or above the DOL prevailing wage for your location and job duties. Look up the wage level for your SOC code and metro area using the OFLC Wage Search before you enter salary discussions.
Filter employers by active LCA filings
Use Migrate Mate to search Full Stack Engineer roles filtered by employers with verified DOL Labor Condition Application filing history, so you're only spending time on companies that have already navigated H-1B sponsorship before.
Clarify employer size before cap filing
H-1B filing fees vary based on whether your employer has 25 or fewer full-time employees. Confirm headcount early because small-employer status affects what USCIS charges, and some companies misreport it unintentionally during the offer stage.
Document your specialty occupation case early
USCIS scrutinizes full stack roles when job duties span multiple disciplines. Get a detailed offer letter that ties specific technologies and frameworks to a single qualifying degree field before your employer files Form I-129.

Find Full Stack Engineer JobsFull Stack Engineer H-1B Visa: Frequently Asked Questions
Does a Full Stack Engineer role qualify as an H-1B specialty occupation?
Full stack roles generally qualify when the position requires a bachelor's degree or higher in a specific field like computer science or software engineering. The key is that the degree must be directly related to the job duties. Roles that accept any degree, or where the duties are too generalized, can draw a Request for Evidence from USCIS. A well-drafted job description tied to a specific technical stack strengthens the petition.
How do I find Full Stack Engineer employers who actively sponsor H-1B visas?
The most direct method is searching employers with documented DOL Labor Condition Application history for software development roles. Migrate Mate surfaces Full Stack Engineer positions filtered by employers with verified LCA filing activity, so you can focus on companies that have already completed the sponsorship process rather than those claiming they 'may consider' it.
Can my employer file my H-1B under a different job title than Full Stack Engineer?
Yes, and it happens often. The job title on the LCA and Form I-129 doesn't have to match your internal title, but the SOC code and job duties must accurately reflect what you actually do. Employers sometimes file under Software Developer or Web Developer codes. What matters is that the duties description supports a specialty occupation finding, not the title itself.
What happens to my H-1B status if I'm laid off from a Full Stack Engineer role?
You have a 60-day grace period after your employment ends to find a new sponsoring employer, change to another visa status, or leave the country. If a new employer files an H-1B transfer petition before the 60 days expire, you can start working for them once USCIS receives the petition. The grace period applies once per authorized validity period, not cumulatively.
Does working on a contractor or staffing agency basis affect my H-1B sponsorship for a Full Stack Engineer role?
It can complicate the petition. USCIS applies extra scrutiny to third-party placement arrangements because the petitioning employer must maintain a bona fide employer-employee relationship and control your day-to-day work. If the staffing agency is filing but a client company directs your work, the petition needs to document that control relationship carefully. Some full stack contractors avoid this by seeking direct-hire roles instead.
