Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding H-1B Visa Sponsorship as a Gtm Engineer
Match your degree to the SOC code
GTM Engineer roles can be classified under multiple SOC codes depending on the employer's LCA filing. Check O*NET to confirm your degree field aligns with the occupation your employer selects, since a mismatch is a common RFE trigger.
Target employers with LCA filing history
Search Migrate Mate to filter GTM Engineer roles by employers who have filed Labor Condition Applications for this occupation. Active LCA history signals a company already understands the H-1B process and won't delay sponsorship over unfamiliarity.
Verify the prevailing wage tier before negotiating
Use the OFLC Wage Search to look up the prevailing wage for your SOC code and work location before your offer conversation. DOL assigns four wage levels, and your offered salary must meet at least Level I to support a certified LCA.
Confirm E-Verify enrollment before signing an offer
H-1B employers must be enrolled in E-Verify or have a federal contract requiring it. Ask your recruiter early. Companies that haven't used the program before often underestimate the lead time, which can push back your start date.
Document your cross-functional GTM experience precisely
USCIS scrutinizes GTM Engineer petitions because the role blends strategy and technical execution. Your resume and support letter should map specific technical deliverables, such as CRM integrations or revenue tooling builds, directly to the specialty occupation definition.
Time your transfer to avoid the 60-day gap
If you're moving from one H-1B employer to another, your new employer must file a transfer petition before your last day to maintain H-1B portability. You can start work as soon as USCIS receives the petition, not after approval.

Find Gtm Engineer JobsGtm Engineer H-1B Visa: Frequently Asked Questions
Does a GTM Engineer role qualify as a specialty occupation for H-1B purposes?
Yes, in most cases. GTM Engineer positions that require a bachelor's degree in computer science, information systems, or a related technical field meet USCIS's specialty occupation standard. Roles that blend sales strategy with minimal technical requirements are more likely to face an RFE, so the job description needs to emphasize technical deliverables like API integrations, data pipeline work, or tooling architecture.
Which SOC code do employers typically use when filing an LCA for a GTM Engineer?
Most employers file under SOC 15-1252 (Software Developers) or 15-1299 (Computer Occupations, All Other), depending on how technical the role is. The SOC code determines the prevailing wage the DOL requires the employer to certify. You can verify which occupation best fits your specific responsibilities using O*NET before discussing the offer with your employer.
How do I find GTM Engineer roles where the employer already sponsors H-1B visas?
Migrate Mate surfaces GTM Engineer positions filtered by employers with verified H-1B LCA filing history, so you're not guessing which companies will sponsor. Applying to employers with an established filing record significantly reduces the risk of an offer falling through due to a company's inexperience with the H-1B process.
Can I start working for a new employer while my H-1B transfer is pending?
Yes. Under H-1B portability rules, you can begin working for the new employer as soon as USCIS receives the transfer petition, provided your current H-1B status is valid and the new petition is non-frivolous. You don't need to wait for approval. Keep your receipt notice and final pay stub from your previous employer as evidence of continuous valid status.
What happens to my H-1B status if my GTM Engineer role is eliminated in a layoff?
You have a 60-day grace period from your last day of employment to find a new sponsoring employer, transfer to a different visa status, or depart the U.S. Your former employer is legally required to pay for your return transportation home if you're terminated before your H-1B end date. Filing an H-1B transfer petition before the 60 days expire preserves your ability to stay and work while the new petition is pending.
