ABOUT THE TEAM
The GTM Business Operations & Strategy team helps shape and scale how our B2B business grows across products, customer segments, and routes to market. We work closely with Product, Sales, Success, Data Science, Finance, Marketing, Legal, Security, and Operations to define strategic priorities, evaluate growth opportunities, and translate those priorities into the plans, processes, and cross-functional coordination required to execute well.
Our work sits at the intersection of strategy and execution. We help frame the most important questions facing the business, turn complex inputs into clear decisions and operating plans, and build the structures needed to move priority initiatives forward across teams. The team plays a central role in helping the organization stay focused on where to grow, how to execute, and what needs to be in place for new initiatives to scale successfully.
ABOUT THE ROLE
We’re looking for an exceptional operator to join our team to lead GTM business strategy & operations for Security & Safety across the GTM organization. As AI models & products advance, safety and security are critical to deploying AI broadly. This role is ideal for someone who combines strong operational judgment with fluency in safety & security practices, and who enjoys building the systems, processes, and cross-functional rhythms that help a fast-moving organization scale.
You’ll play a central role in shaping how we bring security- and safety-critical products, capabilities, and policies to market. You will define how we structure the safety and security program within GTM, building an operating system that is resilient, scalable, and designed to unlock our ability to grow with customers as we introduce new products. This includes developing and operationalizing data retention policies, building go-to-market strategy for cybersecurity models, and defining application security requirements from the field to help inform the product roadmap. You will also help create the operating mechanisms that translate recurring customer and seller security needs into scalable product, policy, and enablement decisions.
This role will work closely with Product, Security, Policy, Safety, Legal, Data, Sales, Customer Success, Marketing, and Revenue Operations to ensure our GTM motion is prepared to support enterprise security requirements, appsec expectations, and evolving customer trust needs.
This role is based in San Francisco, CA. We use a hybrid work model of 3 days in the office per week and offer relocation assistance to new employees.
IN THIS ROLE, YOU WILL:
-
Define how the Safety & Security program is structured within GTM, including ownership, decision forums, planning cadences, and escalation paths that support a resilient and scalable operating model.
-
Develop and operationalize data retention policies across products, customer segments, and deployment scenarios in close partnership with Product, Security, Policy, Safety, Legal, and Data.
-
Build go-to-market strategy for cybersecurity models, including target customers, use cases, commercialization approach, launch readiness, success metrics, and field enablement.
-
Create scalable mechanisms to capture recurring security, safety, and appsec needs from customers and field teams, and translate them into structured inputs for product roadmap, policy, and enablement decisions.
-
Track customer demand, implementation blockers, and market signals to refine strategy and drive cross-functional execution across Product, Security, Policy, Safety, Legal, Data, Sales, Customer Success, Marketing, and Revenue Operations.
YOU MIGHT THRIVE IN THIS ROLE IF YOU:
-
Have 10+ years of experience across GTM strategy, business operations, product strategy, security strategy, consulting, or related functions in high-growth technology environments.
-
Bring strong fluency in enterprise security and application security, with working knowledge of topics such as data retention, IAM, audit logging, secure development practices, and vulnerability management.
-
Have experience translating field requirements and customer feedback into product roadmap input, operational priorities, and scalable GTM programs.
-
Are comfortable working with technical products and engaging effectively with both technical and business stakeholders.
-
Are highly analytical and can turn qualitative feedback and recurring field patterns into clear priorities and action.
-
Have demonstrated success leading complex cross-functional initiatives across Product, Security, Legal, Sales, Customer Success, and Operations.
-
Are able to move between long-term strategic direction and hands-on execution, and can bring structure to ambiguous, fast-moving environments.
-
Are an exceptional communicator and collaborator who can influence senior stakeholders across technical and non-technical teams.

Verify your role qualifies as specialty occupation
GTM leadership roles must require a specific bachelor's degree or higher to clear H-1B specialty occupation standards. Pull the O*NET profile for your job code and confirm the degree requirement is field-specific, not general business or any discipline.
Target employers with LCA filing history
Search Migrate Mate to filter Head of GTM openings by employers who have filed Labor Condition Applications for similar roles. Prior LCA activity signals an established H-1B process, reducing the risk of an employer backing out mid-petition.
Request premium processing before your start date
Standard H-1B adjudication runs several months. If your offer has a firm start date, ask your employer to file with USCIS premium processing to get a decision within 15 business days. Negotiate this into the offer before signing.
Benchmark your offered salary against prevailing wage
Your employer must pay the higher of the actual or prevailing wage. Use the OFLC Wage Search to look up the Level II or Level III wage for your SOC code and metro before your offer letter is drafted, so there are no surprises at LCA filing.
Document your strategic scope before petition is filed
RFEs on senior GTM roles often challenge whether the position genuinely requires a specialized degree. Gather org charts, board presentations, and revenue accountability documents now so your employer's attorney can build a strong specialty occupation argument.
Negotiate cap-gap coverage into your transition plan
If you're moving from F-1 OPT to H-1B, your cap-gap period extends work authorization through September 30. Confirm with your new employer that your start date falls within that window so you don't face an unauthorized gap between statuses.
H-1B Visa Head Of Gtm: Frequently Asked Questions
Does a Head of GTM role qualify as an H-1B specialty occupation?
Yes, in most cases, but the employer must demonstrate the position specifically requires a bachelor's degree or higher in marketing, business strategy, or a directly related field. Generic GTM leadership roles that accept any degree are more vulnerable to USCIS scrutiny. Roles tied to a product-led or technical go-to-market motion, where a specific discipline is genuinely required, tend to clear specialty occupation review more cleanly.
Which employers typically sponsor H-1B visas for Head of GTM positions?
Series B and later-stage SaaS companies, enterprise software vendors, and technology-focused firms with dedicated people operations teams are the most consistent sponsors for senior GTM roles. You can browse Head of GTM openings filtered by H-1B filing history on Migrate Mate, which surfaces employers who have filed Labor Condition Applications for comparable positions.
How does the H-1B lottery affect a Head of GTM job search timeline?
USCIS opens H-1B registration in March and selects cap-subject beneficiaries before April 1. If selected, employment can begin October 1 of the same fiscal year. For senior GTM hires, employers sometimes file under cap-exempt categories if they qualify, bypassing the lottery. Confirm your target employer's entity type early to understand whether the lottery applies to your petition.
Can my employer include relocation or equity in the H-1B prevailing wage calculation?
No. The prevailing wage requirement under the LCA applies only to cash wages. Equity, bonuses, and relocation packages don't count toward satisfying the DOL's wage floor. Your base salary alone must meet or exceed the prevailing wage for your role's SOC code, experience level, and work location as determined by the OFLC Wage Search.
What happens to my H-1B status if the company eliminates my Head of GTM role?
You enter a 60-day grace period from the date of termination, during which you can begin a new job search or file for a change of status. Your employer is required to pay for your return transportation to your home country if they terminate the H-1B. Finding a new sponsoring employer and having them file an H-1B transfer petition within that 60-day window maintains your status continuity.
