Verify your degree supports specialty occupation
USCIS requires a direct nexus between your degree field and the Corporate Development Analyst role. A finance, economics, or accounting degree maps cleanly. A general business degree may trigger an RFE, so gather transcripts and a degree equivalency evaluation early.
Use OFLC Wage Search before negotiating offers
Your H-1B petition locks in a prevailing wage level. Pull the OFLC Wage Search for SOC code 13-2099 in your target metro before discussing compensation, so you can confirm any offer clears the DOL wage floor for your experience level.
Target companies with active LCA filing history
Search Migrate Mate to filter Corporate Development Analyst roles by employers who have filed Labor Condition Applications for this job title. That filing history confirms the employer understands H-1B sponsorship and has cleared the DOL certification step before.
Clarify who bears the I-129 filing fees
USCIS prohibits employers from passing certain mandatory H-1B filing fees to you as the worker. Before signing an offer, confirm in writing that the employer covers the I-129 petition fee and any applicable asylum program surcharge, not just the optional premium processing cost.
Document project-based work for specialty occupation proof
Corporate development work spans M&A diligence, financial modeling, and strategic analysis. Build a portfolio summary of deals and projects tied to your degree field. Employers and their attorneys use this to draft the support letter USCIS requires for specialty occupation classification.

Find Corporate Development Analyst JobsCorporate Development Analyst H-1B Visa: Frequently Asked Questions
Does a Corporate Development Analyst role qualify as a specialty occupation for H-1B purposes?
Yes, in most cases. USCIS looks for roles that normally require at least a bachelor's degree in a specific field. Corporate Development Analyst positions typically require degrees in finance, economics, accounting, or business administration, and involve complex financial modeling and strategic analysis that supports this classification. If your employer's job description lists a degree as preferred rather than required, that can create issues, so confirm the language before filing.
Which employers sponsor H-1B visas for Corporate Development Analyst roles?
Large financial institutions, investment banks, private equity-backed portfolio companies, and Fortune 500 corporations with dedicated strategy or M&A teams are the most active sponsors. You can browse current openings filtered by verified LCA filing history on Migrate Mate, which shows which employers have already cleared the DOL certification step for this job title and location.
How does the H-1B prevailing wage requirement affect Corporate Development Analyst offers?
Your employer must pay you at least the DOL prevailing wage for your job title, experience level, and work location before USCIS will approve the petition. The DOL uses four wage levels, and Level I applies to entry-level analysts while Level III or IV applies to senior roles. You can verify the applicable wage using the OFLC Wage Search before evaluating any offer.
Can I switch employers mid-H-1B if a better Corporate Development role comes up?
Yes, H-1B portability under AC21 lets you change employers once you've had a petition approved and have been in valid H-1B status for at least 180 days. Your new employer files an H-1B transfer petition, and you can start working once USCIS receives it, without waiting for approval. The new role must still qualify as a specialty occupation at the same or higher wage level.
What happens to my H-1B status if my employer is acquired during a corporate development deal?
If the acquiring company is a successor-in-interest and assumes the obligations of your H-1B petition, you may be able to continue working without filing a new petition, but your employer's immigration counsel should confirm this. Material changes to your role, title, location, or duties may still require an amended petition filed with USCIS before you make those changes.
