Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding H-1B Visa Sponsorship as an Infrastructure Platform Engineer
Map your credentials to DOL wage levels
Pull your target job title in the OFLC Wage Search before applying. Infrastructure Platform Engineer roles often land at wage Level III or IV, and your offered salary must meet that threshold or USCIS will issue a wage-related RFE.
Filter employers by LCA filing history
Use Migrate Mate to identify employers who have filed Labor Condition Applications specifically for infrastructure and platform engineering roles, so you're targeting companies with a documented H-1B sponsorship track record in your exact function.
Verify your role qualifies as specialty occupation
Check the O*NET profile for Infrastructure Platform Engineer to confirm the occupation requires a specific bachelor's degree. If your employer's job description allows any technical degree, USCIS may challenge the specialty occupation determination, so push for precise degree requirements in your offer letter.
Time your application around cap registration windows
H-1B cap registration opens in early March each year for an October 1 start date. If you're on OPT and your authorization expires before October 1, confirm whether your employer can bridge the gap through cap-gap protections or an alternative status.
Request premium processing for platform-critical roles
Infrastructure roles often involve on-call obligations and tightly scheduled team dependencies. Premium processing gets USCIS to adjudicate your I-129 within 15 business days, reducing the risk of a staffing gap if standard processing extends into your start date.
Separate your cloud certifications from your degree evidence
AWS, Azure, or GCP certifications strengthen your profile but don't substitute for degree credentials in the H-1B petition. Your attorney needs official transcripts and a credential evaluation for foreign degrees; submit certifications separately as supporting evidence of technical competency.

Find Infrastructure Platform Engineer JobsInfrastructure Platform Engineer H-1B Visa: Frequently Asked Questions
Does an Infrastructure Platform Engineer role qualify as a specialty occupation for H-1B purposes?
Yes, in most cases. USCIS evaluates whether the position normally requires at least a bachelor's degree in a specific technical field like computer science, systems engineering, or a directly related discipline. Infrastructure Platform Engineer roles typically satisfy this because the work, including designing distributed systems, managing Kubernetes clusters, and architecting cloud infrastructure, requires specialized theoretical knowledge that a general degree doesn't provide. Your offer letter should specify the required degree field precisely.
Which types of employers sponsor H-1B visas for Infrastructure Platform Engineer positions?
Cloud-native technology companies, financial institutions with large engineering organizations, enterprise software vendors, and healthcare technology firms are among the most consistent H-1B sponsors for this role. You can browse Infrastructure Platform Engineer roles at verified H-1B-sponsoring employers on Migrate Mate, which surfaces employers based on their actual DOL Labor Condition Application filing history rather than self-reported claims.
What wage level should I expect USCIS to apply to an Infrastructure Platform Engineer petition?
DOL assigns prevailing wage levels based on job duties, supervision requirements, and complexity. Infrastructure Platform Engineer roles with independent architecture responsibilities and cross-team technical ownership typically fall at Level III or Level IV in the OFLC Wage Search. If your employer offers a wage below the certified prevailing wage for your location and level, USCIS will issue an RFE or denial on wage grounds.
Can I switch employers mid-H-1B if I'm already working as an Infrastructure Platform Engineer?
Yes. H-1B portability under AC21 lets you start working for a new employer as soon as they file an H-1B transfer petition, without waiting for approval, as long as your original petition was approved and you've been in valid H-1B status for at least 180 days. Your new employer must file a new I-129 and a fresh Labor Condition Application covering the role and location before your start date.
How does remote or hybrid work affect H-1B compliance for Infrastructure Platform Engineers?
If you work from a location not listed on the original Labor Condition Application, your employer must file a new LCA covering that worksite before you begin working there. Short-term assignments under 30 days in a rolling year may qualify for a short-term placement exception, but ongoing remote work in a different metropolitan area requires a new certified LCA and potentially an amended I-129 petition filed with USCIS.
