Align your degree to the SOC code
USCIS scrutinizes whether your degree field directly relates to logistics planning. A supply chain, industrial engineering, or operations research degree maps cleanly to SOC 13-1081. A general business degree may trigger an RFE without supporting coursework documentation.
Use OFLC Wage Search before negotiating
Pull the prevailing wage for Logistics Planners in your target metro before any offer conversation. Your employer's LCA must certify a wage at or above Level I–IV, and knowing the threshold prevents surprises after the petition is filed.
Target companies with active LCA filing history
Search Migrate Mate to filter Logistics Planner roles by employers with verified H-1B LCA filings. Sponsors with recent logistics-specific filings have already cleared DOL certification for this occupation and are far less likely to withdraw a sponsorship offer mid-process.
Document your specialty occupation evidence proactively
Gather job postings from peer companies listing degree requirements for similar logistics planner roles. USCIS accepts industry evidence showing that a bachelor's degree is standard for the position, which strengthens your employer's I-129 petition if the specialty occupation is challenged.
Negotiate cap-gap continuity into your offer timing
If your OPT expires before October 1 and your H-1B is approved, cap-gap extends your work authorization automatically. Confirm with your employer that your start date and logistics project assignments account for this window so you're not placed on unpaid leave unnecessarily.

Find Logistics Planner JobsLogistics Planner H-1B Visa: Frequently Asked Questions
Does a Logistics Planner role qualify as a specialty occupation for H-1B purposes?
Yes, provided the position requires at least a bachelor's degree in a directly related field such as supply chain management, industrial engineering, or operations research. Roles that accept any degree or substitute years of experience without a degree requirement are harder to qualify. Your employer should document that a specific degree is standard for logistics planning positions in their industry, not just preferred.
Which employers sponsor H-1B visas for Logistics Planner positions?
Large manufacturers, third-party logistics providers, retail distribution companies, and e-commerce fulfillment operations are the most consistent H-1B sponsors for logistics planning roles. You can find employers with verified LCA filing history for this occupation on Migrate Mate, which filters roles specifically by sponsorship activity so you're not applying to positions where sponsorship is uncertain.
How does the prevailing wage requirement affect Logistics Planner H-1B petitions?
Your employer must certify through the LCA that your offered wage meets or exceeds the DOL prevailing wage for Logistics Planners in your work location. The wage level, from Level I to Level IV, reflects your experience and job complexity. You can verify the applicable wage for your metro area using the OFLC Wage Search tool before comparing any offer.
Can I transfer my H-1B to a new Logistics Planner role at a different company?
Yes. H-1B portability under AC21 lets you start working for a new employer as soon as they file a cap-exempt H-1B transfer petition, without waiting for approval, as long as your original petition has been pending or approved for at least 180 days. The new employer must file a fresh LCA and I-129 that covers your logistics planning duties and the prevailing wage at the new location.
What O*NET occupation code applies to Logistics Planner roles for H-1B purposes?
Most Logistics Planner positions fall under O*NET SOC code 13-1081, which covers Logisticians. This code is used on the LCA your employer files with DOL. Some specialized roles in transportation planning or supply chain analysis may map to adjacent codes, so confirm the SOC classification with your employer's HR team before the LCA is submitted to avoid a wage level mismatch.
