H-1B Visa Mammographer Jobs
Mammographer roles qualify as H-1B specialty occupations because the position requires at least a bachelor's degree in radiologic technology or a related clinical field. Hospitals, imaging centers, and health systems regularly sponsor H-1B petitions for credentialed mammographers, and the 65,000 annual cap applies to most private employers.

Verify your ARRT credentials transfer correctly
USCIS evaluates your degree and ARRT certification together when assessing specialty occupation. Confirm your mammography specialty certification is current before your employer files, since a lapsed credential can trigger an RFE.
Target hospital systems over independent clinics
Large hospital networks and academic medical centers file H-1B petitions routinely and have in-house immigration counsel. Smaller imaging-only clinics often lack the infrastructure to sponsor, so filtering by employer type saves time early in your search.
Search H-1B filing history on Migrate Mate
Use Migrate Mate to filter mammographer roles by employers with verified H-1B LCA filing history. That DOL Labor Condition Application data shows which health systems have sponsored this specific occupation, not just clinical roles broadly.
Check prevailing wage before negotiating your offer
Your employer must pay at least the DOL prevailing wage for your geographic area and experience level. Run your job title through the OFLC Wage Search before you reach the offer stage so you know the floor and can negotiate above it.
Ask your employer about cap-exempt facility status
If you're hired by a nonprofit hospital, university medical center, or government-affiliated facility, your employer may qualify as cap-exempt, letting you file outside the April lottery window at any time of year.
File premium processing if your start date is firm
Mammography departments often backfill vacancies on a set timeline. If your employer needs you on-site by a specific date, request premium processing when USCIS files Form I-129 to get a decision within 15 business days.

Find Mammographer JobsMammographer H-1B Visa: Frequently Asked Questions
Does a mammographer role qualify as an H-1B specialty occupation?
Yes. USCIS classifies mammographer positions as specialty occupations when the employer requires at least a bachelor's degree in radiologic technology, medical imaging, or a directly related clinical field. The O*NET occupation profile for radiologic technologists supports the degree requirement. If your employer lists the degree as preferred rather than required, that wording can weaken the petition, so verify the job description before your employer files.
Which employers are most likely to sponsor H-1B visas for mammographers?
Hospital systems, academic medical centers, and large outpatient imaging networks file H-1B petitions for mammographers most consistently. Standalone breast imaging clinics and mobile mammography units rarely have the legal infrastructure to sponsor. You can filter by employers with verified H-1B LCA filing history for imaging roles on Migrate Mate, which pulls directly from DOL disclosure data.
Does my ARRT mammography certification affect my H-1B petition?
It strengthens the specialty occupation argument but doesn't replace the degree requirement. USCIS looks primarily at whether the role requires a specific bachelor's degree, not just a certification. Your ARRT mammography specialty certification demonstrates professional credentialing and supports the employer's job description, but your underlying radiologic technology or clinical degree is what satisfies the statutory standard.
What happens to my H-1B status if my employer closes a mammography unit?
If your employer terminates your position, you have a 60-day grace period to find a new sponsoring employer, change to another visa status, or depart the country. A new employer can file an H-1B transfer petition during that window without waiting for a new lottery slot if you've already been counted against the cap in a previous fiscal year.
Can a mammographer work at multiple imaging sites under one H-1B?
Yes, but each worksite location must be covered by a certified LCA filed with DOL before you begin working there. If your employer adds a new facility after the original petition is approved, they must post the LCA at the new location and may need to amend the I-129 with USCIS depending on whether the new site is a material change to your work location.
