Verify your ARRT certification covers mammography
H-1B approval for this role depends on demonstrating specialty occupation status. ARRT certification in mammography, combined with your radiologic technology degree, strengthens the specialty occupation argument USCIS adjudicators apply to imaging roles.
Search LCA filings by occupation code
Use the OFLC Wage Search to look up Labor Condition Applications filed under SOC code 29-2035 (Radiologic and MRI Technologists). This surfaces which employers have sponsored similar roles recently, so you can target your applications to proven sponsors.
Target large hospital systems and imaging networks
Standalone imaging clinics rarely have immigration infrastructure in place. Large health systems and national radiology networks employ dedicated HR teams familiar with H-1B filing timelines, making them far more likely to initiate sponsorship for qualified candidates.
Filter for H-1B sponsors on Migrate Mate
Search Mammography Technologist roles on Migrate Mate to see employers filtered by DOL Labor Condition Application filing history. This narrows your search to employers who have actively sponsored H-1B workers in radiologic and imaging occupations.
Negotiate offer timing around the H-1B cap
H-1B cap-subject petitions must be filed for an October 1 start date, with USCIS registration opening in March. If you receive an offer outside that window, ask whether the employer will hold the role or structure a later start date aligned with the fiscal year cycle.
Confirm employer will cover premium processing
Standard H-1B adjudication can take several months. For clinical roles with credentialing lead times, ask during the offer stage whether the employer will elect premium processing through USCIS, which currently guarantees a 15-business-day response and reduces onboarding uncertainty.

Find Mammography Technologist JobsMammography Technologist H-1B Visa: Frequently Asked Questions
Does a Mammography Technologist role qualify as an H-1B specialty occupation?
Yes, provided the position requires at least a bachelor's degree in radiologic technology, medical imaging, or a closely related field. USCIS evaluates specialty occupation status case by case. Roles that list an associate degree as sufficient may face RFEs, so job postings requiring a bachelor's degree specifically support a stronger petition.
Which employers sponsor H-1B visas for Mammography Technologists?
Large hospital systems, academic medical centers, and national outpatient imaging networks are the most consistent H-1B sponsors for this role. You can browse Mammography Technologist positions at employers with verified H-1B filing history on Migrate Mate, which surfaces employers based on DOL Labor Condition Application data.
Does ARRT mammography certification affect my H-1B petition?
ARRT certification in mammography strengthens your petition by demonstrating the specialized, degree-level knowledge USCIS looks for in specialty occupation determinations. It also satisfies state licensure requirements that many employers require before you can practice, which means certification issues can delay your start date independent of visa approval.
How does the H-1B cap affect job offers for this role?
Most hospital and imaging center employers are cap-subject, meaning your petition enters the annual H-1B lottery with an October 1 start date. Cap-exempt employers, such as nonprofit hospitals affiliated with universities or research institutions, can file outside the lottery at any time. Clarifying your prospective employer's cap status early prevents offer timing conflicts.
Can I switch employers after my H-1B is approved for a Mammography Technologist position?
Yes. Under H-1B portability rules, you can begin working for a new employer once they file a new H-1B petition on your behalf, without waiting for approval, as long as your current status is valid and the new role is in a specialty occupation. Your ARRT certification and clinical record transfer with you.
