Summary
We're looking for a hands-on Marketing Automation Specialist to own the day-to-day operations of our Marketo Engage instance supporting two of The Freeman Company’s brands — Sparks and 3D Exhibits. This role is the execution engine behind our owned channel campaign activity — partnering closely with campaign marketing teams to build, launch, and report on Marketo marketing automation programs across email, digital, and events.
This is a great fit for someone who knows Marketo inside and out, takes pride in clean and efficient builds, and thrives in a fast-moving environment where attention to detail and responsiveness directly impact campaign outcomes.
This role sits at a moment of real platform evolution — our Marketo instance is part of a broader multi-brand Salesforce consolidation — so comfort with change, and a forward-thinking approach to using AI to streamline campaign builds, QA, and reporting, will set the best candidates apart.
This position will support our Marketing team. It is eligible to work a hybrid schedule, generally requiring work in-office and/or show-site 2-3 days per week. The ideal candidate will be located in Dallas, TX and will be based out of our North Dallas office location.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Platform Operations & Campaign Execution:
- Own day-to-day Marketo execution across a shared instance supporting Sparks and 3D Exhibits, including Marketo program creation, email builds, landing page development, and reporting
- Partner with campaign marketing teams to translate campaign briefs into fully built Marketo programs — ensuring assets are set up correctly, QA'd, and deployed on schedule
- Build and manage email, digital, and event Marketo programs end-to-end, maintaining accurate Salesforce sync and keeping program costs updated throughout the campaign lifecycle
- Serve as the primary Marketo point of contact for campaign marketing stakeholders — fielding requests, managing timelines, and driving execution
- Collaborate with the Analytics & Insights team on campaign reporting and attribution, and stay closely aligned with the ongoing Marketo/Salesforce consolidation initiative as the instance evolves
- Bring a forward-thinking approach to AI-assisted workflows — using AI tools to speed up program builds, QA, and reporting where it makes sense
- Advise campaign marketing teams and campaign leads on ways to enhance program performance and structure, drawing on working knowledge of marketing strategy — this role is expected to guide, not just execute
- Maintain naming conventions and program taxonomy across the shared instance so campaigns, programs, and UTMs stay consistent and reportable across both brands
- Manage list hygiene — deduping, suppression lists, and bounce/unsubscribe processing — to keep the shared database clean and compliant
- Set clear turnaround expectations for intake requests and triage competing priorities across Sparks and 3D transparently
- Document processes and support backup coverage so platform operations continue smoothly during PTO or absences
How We'll Measure Success:
- Campaigns are QA’d and deployed on time, with minimal error rates
- Stakeholders trust this person as a responsive, reliable point of contact
- Program hygiene (naming conventions, cost tracking, Salesforce sync) stays clean and audit-ready
Education & Experience
Must-Have:
- 5+ years of hands-on Marketo Engage experience with demonstrated ownership of day-to-day platform operations
- Bachelor's Degree from an accredited four year college or university is required
- Proven ability to build and launch end-to-end Marketo programs — emails, landing pages, forms, smart lists, and campaigns
- Working knowledge of marketing strategy fundamentals, with the ability to proactively advise campaign leads and stakeholders on ways to strengthen program performance
- Understanding of what makes an event program effective end-to-end — invite strategy, reminder cadence, and post-event follow-up — not just the mechanics of registration flows
- Understanding of how digital programs should hand off into nurture, building programs that keep a lead moving through the funnel rather than dead-ending after a single touch
- Experience with Marketo event program management, including registration flows and attendee list management
- Familiarity with Salesforce CRM integration and maintaining sync hygiene between platforms
- Strong attention to detail with a habit of self-QA before handoff
- Comfortable managing multiple stakeholders and competing priorities in a fast-moving environment
- Working knowledge of email deliverability fundamentals (sender reputation, spam triggers, list hygiene) to protect the health of a shared sending instance
- Understanding of email compliance and consent basics (CAN-SPAM, CASL, GDPR)
- Experience running A/B tests (subject lines, send times, CTAs, etc.) to continuously improve program performance
- Strong written and verbal communication skills for working directly with campaign marketing stakeholders
- A curious, forward-thinking mindset toward using AI to improve marketing automation workflows — this is a priority for the role, not a bonus
Nice-to-Have:
- Marketo Certified Expert (MCE) certification, or actively in progress
- Basic HTML/CSS knowledge for email and landing page troubleshooting
- Experience working in a multi-brand or enterprise marketing environment
- Hands-on experience with AI tools in a marketing automation context (e.g., AI-assisted QA, content generation, or reporting)
- Familiarity with intake/work management tools (e.g., Workfront) and webinar platforms (e.g., Zoom, ON24)
- Experience using dynamic content and personalization tokens to tailor programs by audience segment

Map your degree to SOC codes
Marketing Automation Specialist roles can map to multiple SOC codes depending on whether the work emphasizes analytics, software, or campaign management. Pull the O*NET profile for each code before applying so your resume language aligns with what the employer puts on the LCA.
Filter employers by LCA filing history
Search Migrate Mate to identify employers with verified Labor Condition Application filings for marketing automation or closely related roles. Active LCA history signals an employer already understands H-1B compliance requirements, which shortens the sponsorship conversation during interviews.
Build a portfolio that documents specialty occupation
USCIS RFEs for marketing roles often challenge whether the position genuinely requires a degree. Document projects where you applied segmentation algorithms, built multi-touch attribution models, or integrated CRM APIs to show the role demands theoretical and technical knowledge, not just platform familiarity.
Confirm E-Verify enrollment before accepting offers
Employers must be E-Verify participants to hire on certain work authorization types and to qualify for cap-exempt pathways. Ask HR directly during the offer stage whether the company is enrolled, since this affects both your I-9 process and any future STEM OPT eligibility if you're transitioning from OPT.
Request the LCA before your start date
Once your employer files the LCA with DOL, you're entitled to a copy for your records. Review the prevailing wage level certified, the worksite address, and the period of employment before your I-129 petition is filed so discrepancies can be corrected without delaying your start date.
Time your registration window around tool certifications
H-1B cap registration opens in March, with employment start dates no earlier than October 1. If you're mid-certification in Marketo, HubSpot, or Salesforce Marketing Cloud, schedule completions before March so your resume reflects current credentials when employers evaluate whether to register you.
H-1B Visa Marketing Automation Specialist: Frequently Asked Questions
Does a Marketing Automation Specialist role qualify as an H-1B specialty occupation?
Yes, provided the employer can document that the position normally requires at least a bachelor's degree in a specific field such as marketing, computer science, information systems, or business analytics. Roles that mix platform administration with data modeling tend to qualify more easily than those framed purely as tool operators. USCIS evaluates the actual job duties, not just the title.
Which employers sponsor H-1B visas for Marketing Automation Specialists?
Employers with dedicated demand generation, marketing operations, or revenue operations teams are the most consistent sponsors, including large SaaS companies, enterprise technology vendors, financial services firms, and healthcare systems with digital marketing functions. You can search Migrate Mate to find employers with active LCA filing history specifically for marketing automation and adjacent roles, which filters out employers who don't sponsor.
How does the prevailing wage requirement affect Marketing Automation Specialist H-1B petitions?
Your employer must certify through DOL that your offered wage meets the prevailing wage for your SOC code and worksite location before USCIS will approve the I-129 petition. Prevailing wages vary significantly by metro area. You can look up the applicable wage level using the OFLC Wage Search tool to verify the certified wage on your LCA reflects your actual work location, especially if you're remote or working across multiple offices.
Can I switch employers while on H-1B as a Marketing Automation Specialist?
Yes. Under AC21 portability, you can start working for a new employer once they file an H-1B transfer petition, without waiting for approval, as long as your current H-1B has been approved for at least 180 days. The new employer files a fresh I-129 with their own LCA. Your H-1B cap selection carries over, so you don't re-enter the lottery.
What documentation should I prepare before asking an employer to sponsor my H-1B?
Assemble your academic transcripts, diploma, and any credential evaluation if your degree is from outside the U.S. Prepare a work history summary that links each past role to the theoretical and applied knowledge your degree provided. If your title has varied across employers, collect job descriptions that show consistent specialty-occupation duties. USCIS may issue an RFE requesting this evidence, so having it organized before the petition is filed reduces delays.
