Map your degree to the role formally
Your bachelor's degree field must connect directly to sales enablement work. If your degree is in a tangentially related area, get a credential evaluation that draws an explicit line to CRM strategy, instructional design, or revenue operations before you apply.
Target employers with LCA filing history
Search DOL's LCA disclosure data filtered to Sales Enablement or Business Development Specialist titles. Companies that have filed Labor Condition Applications for this role before are operationally ready to sponsor again and won't need to build an internal process from scratch for you.
Use Migrate Mate to find verified sponsors
Filter Migrate Mate by job title and H-1B sponsorship history to surface employers who have actually filed for Sales Enablement Specialists. That filing history is drawn from DOL LCA data, so you're targeting companies with a documented track record, not just a careers-page claim.
Confirm prevailing wage compliance before negotiating
Run your target title and location through the OFLC Wage Search before salary discussions start. Your employer must pay at least the DOL prevailing wage, and knowing the Level I through Level IV range lets you spot whether an offer is structured to meet the legal minimum or actually competitive.
Ask about cap-exempt employer status early
Universities, nonprofits affiliated with higher education, and certain research institutions are cap-exempt and can file H-1B petitions outside the annual lottery. Sales enablement roles exist at these organizations, and a cap-exempt filing means you can start within weeks rather than waiting until October 1.
Nail the specialty occupation documentation in your offer letter
USCIS scrutinizes whether Sales Enablement Specialist qualifies as a specialty occupation. Your offer letter and the I-129 support memo should specify that the role requires applying theoretical and practical knowledge of adult learning principles, sales methodology frameworks, or CRM systems, not just general business skills.
H-1B Visa Sales Enablement Specialist: Frequently Asked Questions
Does a Sales Enablement Specialist role qualify as a specialty occupation for H-1B purposes?
Yes, if the position requires a bachelor's degree or higher in a specific field such as business administration, marketing, communications, or instructional design. USCIS evaluates each petition individually, so the job description must demonstrate that the theoretical and practical application of specialized knowledge is a genuine requirement of the role, not optional or incidental.
Which industries sponsor H-1B visas for Sales Enablement Specialists most frequently?
SaaS companies, enterprise software vendors, management consulting firms, and financial services organizations are the most active sponsors for this title, based on DOL LCA disclosure data. These employers tend to have dedicated HR and legal teams already familiar with the H-1B process, which shortens the internal approval timeline once you receive an offer. You can browse open roles filtered by sponsorship history on Migrate Mate.
How does the H-1B lottery timing affect my job search as a Sales Enablement Specialist?
USCIS opens H-1B registration in March each year for the following fiscal year starting October 1. If you're selected, your employer files the full petition by June. This means you need to have an offer in hand before March to participate in that year's lottery cycle. Missing the window means waiting another full year unless you find a cap-exempt employer.
Can I transfer my H-1B to a new Sales Enablement Specialist role without losing my status?
Yes. Under H-1B portability rules, you can start working for a new employer as soon as the transfer petition is filed with USCIS, provided your current H-1B was lawfully obtained and the new role also qualifies as a specialty occupation. The new employer files an I-129 petition; you don't need to reenter the lottery or restart the cap count.
What should I look for in an employer's H-1B sponsorship track record for this role?
Check whether the employer has filed LCAs specifically for sales enablement, sales operations, or revenue enablement titles before. An employer who has only filed for engineering roles may be unfamiliar with framing a sales enablement position as a specialty occupation, which creates avoidable RFE risk. DOL LCA disclosure data, searchable through tools like Migrate Mate, shows historical filing patterns by employer and job title.
