Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding H-1B Visa Sponsorship in Sales Operations
Map your degree to the role
Sales Operations sits at the intersection of business analysis and process design. Your degree in business, finance, information systems, or a directly related field needs to align with your job duties. A mismatch between degree field and role scope is a common RFE trigger for this title.
Check prevailing wage before accepting offers
Your employer's LCA must certify a wage at or above the DOL prevailing wage for your SOC code and work location. Use the OFLC Wage Search to verify the Level I through Level IV wage tiers before negotiations, so you know whether the offer satisfies the DOL requirement.
Target companies with active LCA filing history
SaaS platforms, enterprise software firms, and tech companies file LCAs for Sales Operations roles far more consistently than traditional industries. Use Migrate Mate to filter employers by verified H-1B LCA filing history for this occupation, so you're targeting companies already set up to sponsor.
File during cap-subject periods with lead time
H-1B cap registration opens in March for an October 1 start date. If you're on OPT, confirm your end date allows cap-gap coverage. Sales Operations roles at cap-exempt employers like universities or nonprofits can file year-round if you need an alternative path.
Clarify multi-state work arrangements upfront
Sales Operations roles often support distributed sales teams across multiple states. Each worksite requires a separate LCA posting from your employer. Confirm that your employer's counsel will file a blanket or amended LCA covering all locations before your petition is submitted to USCIS.
Use your O*NET profile in specialty occupation evidence
USCIS scrutinizes whether Sales Operations positions require a specific degree. Pull the O*NET occupation profile for your SOC code to document that the role typically requires a bachelor's degree. Your employer's attorney should cite this in the I-129 to pre-empt an RFE on specialty occupation grounds.

Find Sales Operations JobsSales Operations H-1B Visa: Frequently Asked Questions
Does a Sales Operations role qualify as a specialty occupation for H-1B purposes?
Yes, if the position requires a bachelor's degree or higher in a specific field such as business administration, finance, information systems, or operations management. The key is that the degree requirement must be tied directly to the job duties, not just preferred. Titles like Sales Operations Manager, Revenue Operations Analyst, and GTM Operations Specialist have been approved as specialty occupations when the employer documents the degree requirement rigorously.
Which employers sponsor H-1B visas for Sales Operations jobs?
SaaS companies, enterprise software firms, and large technology platforms are the most consistent H-1B sponsors for Sales Operations roles, since they rely heavily on CRM administration, pipeline analytics, and revenue reporting functions that require specialized business or technical degrees. You can browse employers with verified LCA filing history for this occupation on Migrate Mate, which surfaces companies that have actively sponsored H-1B workers in this function.
Can I transfer my H-1B to a new Sales Operations employer without losing my place in the cap?
Yes. H-1B portability allows you to start working for a new employer as soon as they file an I-129 transfer petition, as long as your previous H-1B was approved and you've maintained valid status. You don't re-enter the lottery. For Sales Operations roles, the new employer must file a fresh LCA at the prevailing wage for the new work location before submitting the I-129 to USCIS.
What SOC code is typically used for Sales Operations roles on the LCA?
Sales Operations roles are most commonly filed under SOC 11-2022 (Sales Managers) or 13-1161 (Market Research Analysts and Marketing Specialists), depending on the specific duties. Revenue Operations and GTM Operations roles sometimes fall under 15-1299 (Computer and Information Analysts, All Other) when the work is systems-heavy. The SOC code directly determines the DOL prevailing wage tier, so verify with your employer's attorney that the code accurately reflects your actual job duties.
What happens to my H-1B status if my Sales Operations role shifts to remote work in a different state?
Working remotely from a state not listed on your original LCA requires your employer to file an amended LCA and update your I-129 with USCIS before you begin working at the new location. Short-term assignments under 60 consecutive days in a new location have a short-term placement exception, but permanent remote relocation requires full LCA amendment. Failing to update triggers compliance violations for the employer and can affect your status.
