H-1B Visa Marketplace Manager Jobs
Marketplace Manager roles qualify for H-1B visa sponsorship as specialty occupations requiring a bachelor's degree in business, marketing, or a related field. Employers filing LCAs for these positions must meet DOL prevailing wage requirements, and the annual H-1B cap means timing your job search around the April filing window matters.

Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding H-1B Visa Sponsorship as a Marketplace Manager
Map your degree to the role
USCIS requires a direct-field degree match for specialty occupation approval. A business, marketing, or e-commerce degree strengthens your H-1B petition. If your degree is adjacent, gather course transcripts showing relevant coursework before approaching employers.
Check employer LCA history on Migrate Mate
Filter for Marketplace Manager LCA filings to identify employers with active H-1B sponsorship history in this role. That filing record tells you whether a company understands the process before you invest time in their pipeline.
Target platform and e-commerce employers specifically
Marketplace Manager roles at two-sided platform companies, retail aggregators, and SaaS marketplaces file H-1B LCAs far more consistently than traditional retailers. Focusing your search on these employer types narrows the field to sponsors who already know the visa category.
Verify prevailing wage before negotiating your offer
Use the OFLC Wage Search to look up the Level I through Level IV wage for your SOC code and metro area. Your offered salary must meet the certified LCA wage, so knowing the floor protects you from offers that can't clear DOL filing requirements.
Clarify the I-129 filing timeline with your employer
H-1B cap-subject petitions can only be filed for an October 1 start date, with registration opening in March. If you receive an offer after April, confirm whether the employer will bridge your status or defer your start date to the next fiscal year.
Document marketplace-specific responsibilities precisely
USCIS scrutinizes job descriptions for specialty occupation proof. Generic titles like 'manager' draw RFEs. Get your offer letter to specify platform operations, seller acquisition strategy, or algorithmic merchandising functions that anchor the role to a degree-required field.
H-1B Visa Marketplace Manager: Frequently Asked Questions
Does a Marketplace Manager role qualify as an H-1B specialty occupation?
Yes, provided the position requires a bachelor's degree or higher in a specific field such as business administration, marketing, economics, or information systems. Generic management roles without a defined degree requirement have faced USCIS scrutiny, so the job description needs to tie the duties directly to a qualifying academic discipline.
How do I find employers who have sponsored H-1B visas for Marketplace Manager positions?
Migrate Mate surfaces employer LCA filing history filtered by job title and location, so you can see which companies have actively certified Marketplace Manager roles with the DOL. This is more reliable than asking recruiters, because LCA records are public and reflect actual filing behavior rather than stated sponsorship policies.
What happens to my H-1B petition if my employer changes my job title or responsibilities after filing?
A material change in job duties, location, or scope can require an amended H-1B petition. If your role shifts from marketplace operations to a substantially different function, your employer should file an amended I-129 with USCIS. Failing to amend when required creates compliance risk for both you and the employer.
Can I switch employers after my H-1B is approved for a Marketplace Manager role?
Yes. Under AC21 portability, you can change employers once your I-140 has been approved for 180 days or more, provided the new role is in the same or a similar occupational classification. Without an approved I-140, your new employer must file a new H-1B transfer petition before you start work.
Does the O*NET classification for Marketplace Manager affect how USCIS evaluates the petition?
USCIS uses O*NET job zone classifications as one signal when assessing whether a role requires a specific degree. Marketplace Manager roles that align with O*NET Job Zone 4 or 5 occupations in marketing or operations management are better positioned for approval than roles mapped to lower job zones with broader entry requirements.
