The wage range for this role takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets; experience and training; licensure and certifications; and other business and organizational needs. The disclosed range estimate has not been adjusted for the applicable geographic differential associated with the location at which the position may be filled. At Deloitte, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding H-1B Visa Sponsorship as an Oracle Database Administrator
Verify your degree maps to the role
USCIS scrutinizes whether your degree field directly relates to Oracle DBA work. A computer science or information systems degree is safest. If your degree is in a different field, gather course transcripts showing database-specific coursework to support specialty occupation eligibility.
Target companies with active LCA filings
Search Migrate Mate to filter Oracle DBA roles by employers with verified H-1B Labor Condition Application history. This tells you which companies have already navigated DOL wage certification for this specific occupation, not just that they sponsor visas generally.
Prioritize Oracle-certified environments in your search
Employers running Oracle Exadata, RAC, or cloud database infrastructure are far more likely to sponsor because replacing a certified DBA mid-project is expensive. Target roles listing Oracle certifications like OCA or OCP as requirements, not just preferences.
Confirm prevailing wage tier before negotiating
Use the OFLC Wage Search to look up the prevailing wage for database administrators in the employer's metro area before your offer conversation. Your offered salary must meet the DOL wage level, and knowing this prevents a stalled petition caused by a wage shortfall.
Ask about cap-exempt filing eligibility early
Some Oracle DBA roles at universities, nonprofit research institutions, or government-affiliated entities qualify for cap-exempt H-1B filing. These employers can file outside the annual lottery, which matters if you're already on OPT and running out of authorized time.
Document system ownership for RFE preparation
USCIS sometimes issues Requests for Evidence questioning whether an Oracle DBA role truly requires a specialized degree. Compile architecture diagrams, project scopes, and job postings showing the technical complexity of the database environment you'll manage before your employer files.
H-1B Visa Oracle Database Administrator: Frequently Asked Questions
Does an Oracle Database Administrator role qualify as an H-1B specialty occupation?
Yes. Oracle DBA positions typically qualify because USCIS recognizes database administration as requiring at least a bachelor's degree in computer science, information systems, or a closely related field. The employer must demonstrate in the H-1B petition that the specific role requires that degree, not just that DBAs generally hold one. Roles managing complex Oracle environments such as RAC, Data Guard, or Exadata carry stronger supporting evidence.
Which employers sponsor H-1B visas for Oracle Database Administrator roles?
Enterprise technology firms, financial institutions, healthcare systems, and large manufacturers are the most consistent sponsors because they run Oracle ERP and database environments at scale. Government contractors and consulting firms that staff Oracle projects for federal agencies also file regularly. Browse Migrate Mate to find Oracle DBA roles filtered by employers with verified H-1B Labor Condition Application history rather than relying on general sponsorship claims in job postings.
How does the H-1B prevailing wage requirement affect Oracle DBA job offers?
Your employer must certify through a Labor Condition Application that your offered salary meets or exceeds the DOL prevailing wage for database administrators in the work location. You can check the applicable wage level using the OFLC Wage Search before you receive an offer. If the offered salary falls below the prevailing wage for your experience level, DOL won't certify the LCA and the H-1B petition can't proceed.
Can I switch Oracle DBA employers while on H-1B status?
Yes, through H-1B portability. Once USCIS receives your new employer's H-1B transfer petition, you can start working for the new employer immediately without waiting for approval, provided you've maintained valid status. Your new employer must file a new LCA for the Oracle DBA role at the new work location, and the petition must show that the role still qualifies as a specialty occupation.
What documentation strengthens an H-1B petition for an Oracle DBA role?
The petition benefits from a detailed job duties letter describing the Oracle-specific technical requirements: specific versions, modules like RAC or ASM, and integration with enterprise applications. Include the O*NET occupation profile for database administrators as supporting evidence for the specialty occupation argument. If your Oracle certifications such as OCP are current, include those credentials because they reinforce that the role demands specialized knowledge beyond a general IT background.
