Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding H-1B Visa Sponsorship as a Patient Care Manager
Verify your degree meets specialty occupation
USCIS requires your degree field to directly relate to patient care management. A nursing, healthcare administration, or public health degree strengthens your case. A general business degree alone may trigger a Request for Evidence from the adjudicator.
Target health systems with E-Verify enrollment
Hospitals and health networks enrolled in E-Verify are already set up to comply with federal employment verification, which signals readiness to sponsor. Filter your search on Migrate Mate to find Patient Care Manager roles at verified H-1B-filing employers.
Pull prevailing wage data before negotiating
Your employer's LCA must certify a wage at or above the DOL prevailing wage for your role and location. Run the OFLC Wage Search using SOC code 11-9111 before offer discussions so you know the floor and can negotiate from an informed position.
Ask employers about cap-exempt filing options
Hospitals affiliated with nonprofit research institutions or universities may qualify as cap-exempt H-1B employers, meaning your petition skips the annual lottery. Ask HR directly whether the organization holds cap-exempt status before assuming you need to enter the April registration.
Document supervisory scope for the H-1B petition
Patient Care Manager is a management title, and USCIS scrutinizes whether the role genuinely requires a specialized degree. Gather org charts, staff supervision records, and clinical program responsibilities to show the position's complexity during the petition process.
Plan around the 60-day grace period between roles
If you're transitioning from one employer to another, you have a 60-day grace period after your current H-1B ends before status lapses. Your new employer's I-129 petition must be filed before that window closes to maintain lawful status through portability.

Find Patient Care Manager JobsPatient Care Manager H-1B Visa: Frequently Asked Questions
Does a Patient Care Manager role qualify as a specialty occupation for H-1B purposes?
Yes, Patient Care Manager qualifies as a specialty occupation when the role requires at least a bachelor's degree in healthcare administration, nursing, health services management, or a closely related field. USCIS looks at whether the degree is a normal minimum for entry into the position, so employers must document the educational requirement clearly in the job description and the H-1B petition.
Which types of employers sponsor H-1B visas for Patient Care Managers?
Large hospital systems, integrated health networks, and multi-site outpatient groups are the most active H-1B sponsors for this title. Academic medical centers and nonprofit hospital affiliates may also file as cap-exempt employers, which bypasses the annual lottery entirely. You can browse Patient Care Manager roles at verified H-1B-sponsoring employers on Migrate Mate.
How does the DOL prevailing wage requirement affect Patient Care Manager offers?
Your employer must file a Labor Condition Application certifying your offered wage meets or exceeds the DOL prevailing wage for SOC code 11-9111 in your specific metro area. Wages vary significantly by geography, so a role in a rural area may have a lower threshold than the same title in a major urban health system. Use the OFLC Wage Search to check the wage level before evaluating any offer.
Can I transfer my H-1B to a new Patient Care Manager role mid-status?
Yes, H-1B portability lets you start working for a new employer as soon as the transfer petition is filed, without waiting for USCIS approval, as long as your previous status was maintained and you're in a same or similar occupational classification. Patient Care Manager transfers to comparable healthcare management roles generally satisfy the portability requirement, but your new employer's attorney should confirm the SOC code alignment.
Does a Patient Care Manager position require PERM labor certification for H-1B sponsorship?
No. PERM labor certification is a step in the green card process, not the H-1B. H-1B sponsorship for a Patient Care Manager role requires only an LCA filed with DOL and an I-129 petition filed with USCIS. If your employer later sponsors you for permanent residence in the EB-2 or EB-3 category, PERM becomes relevant at that stage.
