About the Role:
The Principal Pre-Sales Consultant - (Embedded Solutions) is a partner-facing technical expert focused on enabling strategic partners to embed Gen Digital capabilities into their own products and experiences. This role blends pre-sales solutions consultancy, product integration to design and deliver SDK- and API-based solutions that drive adoption and revenue through strategic partnerships.
Operating at the intersection of partnerships, product management and engineering, this Specialist leads technical discovery, requirements definition, integration scoping, and solution design—particularly for Gen Digital's embedded experiences. Acting as a trusted advisor, you will guide partners from concept through evaluation and implementation, ensuring solutions are both technically robust and aligned with partner and Gen Digital roadmaps.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead pre-sales technical discovery with strategic partners to understand business objectives, user journeys, and technical environments; translate findings into clear requirements and integration options.
- Scope and define integration projects for SDK and API implementations, including effort estimates, delivery milestones, risks, constraints, and cross-functional dependencies.
- Design and document integration solutions leveraging Gen Digital SDKs, APIs, and platform services, outlining multiple integration options (e.g., native SDK, REST API, web components, SSO/OIDC flows, federated token exchange) and guiding partners to the best-fit approach.
- Collaborate closely with Product Management to validate feasibility, influence roadmaps, and prioritize features based on partner and market requirements for embedded and mobile solutions.
- Work hands-on with partner engineering teams during POCs, pilots, and technical evaluations, providing practical guidance on SDK installation, API consumption, error handling, observability, and performance considerations.
- Provide architectural input and technical leadership for mobile-centric integrations, including solutions that leverage Kotlin Multiplatform, Xcode/Swift, Android Studio, and modern JavaScript frameworks for hybrid or cross-platform experiences.
- Partner with identity and security stakeholders (internally and externally) to design and validate authentication and authorization flows using Identity Providers (IdP), OIDC/OAuth2, SAML, SSO, and federated token exchange.
- Act as the technical and product voice of the partner within Gen Digital—capturing and organizing requirements, documenting use cases, and providing structured feedback to Product, Engineering, and GTM teams.
- Present and position Gen Digital’s embedded capabilities in a pre-sales context to partner executives, product leaders, architects, and development teams, tailoring messaging and depth to each audience.
- Create and maintain partner-facing technical assets, including solution design documents, sequence diagrams, reference architectures, code samples, and integration playbooks.
- Support RFP/RFI processes with detailed technical responses, architecture proposals, and integration plans, coordinating across Legal, Security, Product, and Engineering as needed.
- Provide post-signature technical oversight during early implementation, ensuring that designs are correctly executed, risks are surfaced early, and expansion opportunities are identified.
- Stay current on partner strategies, market trends, and competitive offerings in identity, security, and embedded consumer services to inform solution design and roadmap discussions.
- Contribute to internal sales engineering enablement, sharing best practices, reusable patterns, and lessons learned across global teams.
- Travel as needed to support onsite partner workshops, events, and strategic integration sessions.
About you:
Education: BS degree or equivalent experience in computer science, software engineering, cybersecurity, identity protection, or a related technical field.
Experience: 5–10 years of experience in solutions engineering, pre-sales, technical consulting, or product management roles; at least 3+ years in a senior, customer/partner-facing technical capacity.
Proven experience designing and delivering embedded solutions leveraging SDKs and APIs, ideally in B2B2C or platform/partner ecosystems.
Skills:
- Strong background in requirements gathering, product scoping, and solution definition—able to write or contribute to PRDs, integration specs, and acceptance criteria.
- Hands-on familiarity with modern integration patterns, including RESTful APIs, webhooks, SDK-based integrations, SPAs, and secure auth flows (SSO, OIDC/OAuth2).
- Experience working with or alongside mobile development teams; familiarity with Kotlin Multiplatform, Xcode/Swift, Android Studio, and modern JavaScript stacks (e.g., React, Vue, or similar) is a strong plus.
- Understanding of Identity Platforms (IdP), OIDC/OAuth2, SAML, SSO, and federated token exchange and how they apply to partner and consumer experiences.
- Demonstrated ability to lead technical discovery workshops, synthesize input from multiple stakeholders, and convert it into clear, actionable technical and product requirements.
- Track record of supporting B2C or B2B2C partnerships, ideally with financial institutions, telcos, OEMs, or large consumer service providers.
- Excellent project and stakeholder management skills; capable of managing multiple concurrent integration efforts, timelines, and cross-functional teams.
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills; comfortable operating in fast-moving, ambiguous environments with evolving requirements.
- Outstanding communication skills, both verbal and written; able to clearly explain complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Self-starter with a growth mindset and a strong desire to learn new technologies, tools, and industry trends in identity, security, mobile, and embedded integrations. Experience on the technical pre-sales side of Financial Services, identity theft protection services (ITPS), or anti-scam / fraud-prevention platforms is highly beneficial.
- Demonstrated success in customer- or client-facing roles, building trusted relationships and driving successful technical and business outcomes.
Personal Attributes:
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-tech environment and manage complex problems.

Match your degree to the role
Pre Sales Consultant positions must qualify as a specialty occupation under USCIS standards. A degree in computer science, information systems, or business is the strongest match. A general studies degree will likely trigger an RFE, so document the connection explicitly.
Use OFLC Wage Search before negotiating
Your employer's LCA must certify a wage at or above the prevailing wage for your SOC code and location. Pull the OFLC Wage Search figures before your offer discussion so you can confirm the posted salary clears the DOL threshold.
Find verified sponsoring employers on Migrate Mate
Filter by employers with confirmed H-1B LCA filings for Pre Sales Consultant or related technical sales roles. Migrate Mate surfaces DOL Labor Condition Application data so you target companies with a real sponsorship track record, not just open postings.
Time your application around the cap window
H-1B cap-subject petitions must be filed between April 1 and September 30 for an October 1 start. Pre Sales roles at universities or nonprofits may qualify as cap-exempt, letting you file any time. Confirm your employer's status before planning your start date.
Verify your employer's E-Verify enrollment
If you're on OPT and transitioning to H-1B, your employer must be enrolled in E-Verify for your STEM OPT extension to remain valid during the cap-gap period. Confirm enrollment before accepting an offer, not after.
Document your technical depth for the petition
USCIS scrutinizes Pre Sales roles because job duties can appear more sales-driven than technical. Your petition should include evidence of product architecture knowledge, proof-of-concept responsibilities, and any technical certifications to substantiate the specialty occupation claim.
H-1B Visa Pre Sales Consultant: Frequently Asked Questions
Does a Pre Sales Consultant role qualify as a specialty occupation for H-1B purposes?
It depends on how the duties are defined. A role focused on technical proof-of-concept work, solution architecture, or product integration typically qualifies because it requires a bachelor's degree in a specific technical or business field. A role framed primarily around sales calls or quota attainment is more likely to receive an RFE. The job description and actual day-to-day duties carry significant weight in USCIS adjudication.
What SOC code do employers typically use for Pre Sales Consultant H-1B filings?
Most employers file under SOC 15-1299 (Computer Occupations, All Other) or 41-3099 (Sales Representatives of Services, All Other), depending on how technical the role is. The SOC code affects the prevailing wage level your employer must certify on the LCA. You can verify which code best fits your actual duties using O*NET and confirm the corresponding wage floor through OFLC Wage Search before your offer is finalized.
How do I find Pre Sales Consultant employers who actively sponsor H-1B visas?
Search Migrate Mate, which surfaces employers with verified H-1B LCA filing histories filtered by role type. Enterprise software companies, cloud infrastructure providers, and cybersecurity vendors are among the most active sponsors for Pre Sales roles. Targeting companies with a documented sponsorship pattern significantly reduces the risk of an employer backing out after an offer is extended.
Can I switch to a Pre Sales Consultant role from a different H-1B job title?
Yes, but your employer must file an amended H-1B petition with USCIS before you begin working in the new role if the duties and SOC code change materially. A move from a software engineer title to Pre Sales Consultant typically constitutes a material change. You can start the new role once USCIS receives the amended petition, not after approval, under the same portability rules that apply to other H-1B amendments.
What documentation strengthens an H-1B petition for a Pre Sales Consultant position?
The most useful supporting documents are a detailed job description that emphasizes technical duties over sales metrics, evidence of required technical certifications, your academic transcripts showing a relevant degree field, and any employer letters describing the complexity of the products you demo or architect. If your degree field is adjacent rather than exact, a credential evaluation report from a NACES-member organization helps establish equivalency for USCIS.
