H-1B Visa Procurement Manager Jobs
Procurement Manager roles qualify for H-1B sponsorship as specialty occupations requiring at least a bachelor's degree in supply chain, business, or a related field. Employers filing an LCA must meet DOL prevailing wage requirements, and the standard H-1B cap applies unless your employer is cap-exempt.

Verify your role meets specialty occupation
Pull the O*NET profile for Procurement Managers and confirm your job duties align with the degree-required definition. Roles heavy on administrative coordination rather than strategic sourcing analysis face higher RFE risk at USCIS adjudication.
Research LCA filing history before applying
Use Migrate Mate to filter Procurement Manager roles by employers with verified H-1B LCA filings, so you target companies that have already navigated the DOL certification process for this occupation rather than guessing at sponsorship willingness.
Benchmark your salary against prevailing wage tiers
Run the OFLC Wage Search for your target metro area before negotiating an offer. Your offered salary must meet the Level I through Level IV prevailing wage for your SOC code, and a low offer can trigger a DOL compliance issue before your petition even reaches USCIS.
Document strategic scope not just transactional duties
Your resume and employer support letter should emphasize vendor negotiation strategy, category management, and spend analysis over purchase order processing. USCIS scrutinizes Procurement Manager petitions where the described duties resemble a buyer or coordinator role.
Confirm employer E-Verify enrollment before accepting
If you're on F-1 OPT or STEM OPT when you receive an offer, your employer must be enrolled in E-Verify to maintain your authorization. Ask HR to confirm enrollment status, since gap in employment authorization before your H-1B takes effect can disrupt onboarding.
Understand cap-gap protection timing with your employer
If your OPT expires between April 1 and October 1 after a timely-filed H-1B petition, cap-gap rules extend your work authorization automatically until October 1. Align your start date and offer letter timing with your employer so procurement project handoffs aren't disrupted during this window.

Find Procurement Manager JobsProcurement Manager H-1B Visa: Frequently Asked Questions
Does a Procurement Manager role qualify as an H-1B specialty occupation?
Yes, if the position genuinely requires a bachelor's degree or higher in supply chain management, business, operations, or a directly related field. USCIS evaluates the actual duties, not just the title. Roles that primarily involve placing purchase orders or processing requisitions without strategic sourcing responsibilities are more likely to receive an RFE challenging specialty occupation status.
Which industries sponsor H-1B visas most often for Procurement Manager positions?
Manufacturing, technology, pharmaceuticals, aerospace, and large retail and distribution companies file the most H-1B LCAs for Procurement Manager roles because their supply chains are complex enough to justify degree-level expertise. Government contractors and defense suppliers also sponsor regularly. Use Migrate Mate to search by employer and see which companies have active LCA filing history for this occupation.
What prevailing wage level should I expect for an H-1B Procurement Manager role?
Most Procurement Manager H-1B petitions are filed at DOL Level II or Level III, reflecting mid-career professionals with several years of category management or strategic sourcing experience. Your employer determines the level based on your specific duties and experience, then certifies an LCA at or above that wage. Run the OFLC Wage Search for your target city to understand the range before negotiating.
Can my Procurement Manager H-1B petition be denied even if I have a relevant degree?
Yes. USCIS can issue an RFE or denial if the job description doesn't clearly establish that a specific degree in a related field is required, as opposed to any bachelor's degree. Employers should avoid generic language like 'bachelor's degree preferred' in the support letter. A well-drafted petition ties each core duty to the theoretical and practical application of supply chain or business knowledge.
How does changing employers affect my H-1B status as a Procurement Manager?
H-1B portability under AC21 allows you to change employers after your petition has been pending for 180 days or more, provided the new role is in the same or a similar occupational classification. For Procurement Managers, moving between companies in different industries may require the new employer to justify that the SOC code and specialty occupation basis still apply, especially if the job scope shifts significantly.
