H-1B Visa Security Program Manager Jobs
Security Program Manager roles qualify for H-1B sponsorship as specialty occupations requiring a bachelor's degree or higher in cybersecurity, information systems, or a related field. Employers in tech, defense contracting, finance, and healthcare regularly file H-1B petitions for this role, making it one of the more sponsorship-accessible positions in the security field.

Align your credentials to specialty occupation standards
USCIS evaluates whether your degree field directly relates to Security Program Manager duties. A degree in information systems, cybersecurity, or computer science maps cleanly. An unrelated degree will need a credential evaluation and employer justification letter to hold up under scrutiny.
Target employers with active LCA filing history
Use the OFLC Wage Search to filter Labor Condition Application filings by job title before applying. Employers who have filed LCAs for security management roles in the last two years are far more likely to sponsor again than those with no filing history.
Use Migrate Mate to filter for verified H-1B sponsors
Search Security Program Manager roles on Migrate Mate to surface employers with confirmed H-1B filing history for this job category. This cuts out the guesswork of cold-applying to companies that may not sponsor at all.
Clarify clearance requirements before the offer stage
Many Security Program Manager roles in defense and federal contracting require a security clearance that employers cannot initiate until you have a status that allows it. Confirm whether the role is clearance-gated before entering salary negotiation or the H-1B petition process.
Confirm the prevailing wage tier matches your experience level
DOL assigns wage levels I through IV for LCA filings. Security Program Manager roles for senior candidates typically fall at Level III or IV. If your employer files at Level I, USCIS may issue an RFE questioning whether the role genuinely qualifies as specialty occupation.
Understand how the 60-day grace period affects your timeline
If you're transitioning from another H-1B employer, you have 60 days after your last day of employment before your status lapses. Your new employer must file an H-1B transfer petition and you can begin work upon filing, not upon USCIS approval.

Find Security Program Manager JobsSecurity Program Manager H-1B Visa: Frequently Asked Questions
Does a Security Program Manager role qualify as a specialty occupation for H-1B purposes?
Yes. USCIS evaluates specialty occupation based on whether the role requires at least a bachelor's degree in a specific field. Security Program Manager positions typically require a degree in cybersecurity, information systems, or computer science, and the O*NET profile for this occupation supports that classification. Employers should document the degree requirement explicitly in the LCA and offer letter to reduce the risk of an RFE.
Which industries sponsor H-1B visas most often for Security Program Manager roles?
Technology companies, defense contractors, financial services firms, and large healthcare systems file H-1B petitions for Security Program Managers regularly. Federal contractors often have the highest demand because compliance and risk management mandates require dedicated program leadership. You can browse employers with verified H-1B filing history for this role on Migrate Mate before you apply.
Can I transfer my H-1B to a new Security Program Manager role without waiting for cap selection?
Yes. If you already hold H-1B status, a new employer can file a petition on your behalf under portability rules. You can begin work as soon as the new petition is received by USCIS, not when it's approved. The new role must still qualify as a specialty occupation, so the degree and job duties requirements apply even for transfers.
What documents does my employer need to file an H-1B for a Security Program Manager position?
Your employer files a certified Labor Condition Application with DOL before submitting Form I-129 to USCIS. They'll need your degree transcripts, a detailed job description confirming the specialty occupation requirement, and evidence that the offered wage meets the prevailing wage for the position. If your degree is from outside the U.S., a credential evaluation report is typically included as supporting evidence.
How does a security clearance requirement affect H-1B sponsorship for this role?
A security clearance can complicate sponsorship because many clearances require U.S. citizenship or permanent residence status, which H-1B holders don't hold. Some positions require only a Public Trust designation, which is accessible to H-1B holders. Clarify the clearance level before accepting an offer. If the role requires a full Secret or Top Secret clearance, most employers will not be able to sponsor you for it.
