Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding H-1B Visa Sponsorship as a Sourcing Analyst
Document your degree field precisely
Your degree must align directly with sourcing or supply chain analysis, not just business broadly. Pull your official transcripts and confirm your major maps to the SOC code your employer will use on the LCA before you start applying.
Target employers with STEM-heavy procurement teams
Tech, aerospace, and medical device manufacturers file H-1B petitions for Sourcing Analysts far more consistently than retail or hospitality sectors. Filtering by industry narrows your search to employers already comfortable with the sponsorship process.
Search verified H-1B sponsors on Migrate Mate
Migrate Mate filters Sourcing Analyst roles by employers with confirmed H-1B LCA filing history, so you're not guessing which companies actually sponsor. Use it to target companies that have filed for this specific occupation code.
Check prevailing wage levels before negotiating
Run your target job title and location through the OFLC Wage Search before any offer conversation. Your employer must pay at least the DOL prevailing wage for your region and level, and knowing that floor protects you from underpayment in the LCA.
Clarify H-1B filing timing with HR early
Ask whether the offer is contingent on cap selection or if the employer has cap-exempt status through a university or nonprofit affiliation. Cap-subject roles tied to the April lottery require an accepted offer well before the March registration window.
Prepare evidence linking your role to specialty occupation
USCIS scrutinizes Sourcing Analyst petitions when job duties overlap with general procurement coordinator work. Gather offer letters, org charts, and job descriptions that explicitly require a degree in supply chain, operations research, or a directly related analytical field.
H-1B Visa Sourcing Analyst: Frequently Asked Questions
Does a Sourcing Analyst role qualify as a specialty occupation for H-1B purposes?
Yes, provided the position requires at least a bachelor's degree in a directly related field such as supply chain management, operations research, or business analytics. USCIS evaluates each petition on its specific duties, so job descriptions that emphasize data modeling, supplier performance analysis, and cost optimization support a stronger specialty occupation argument than titles that blend sourcing with general administrative tasks.
Which industries sponsor H-1B visas most often for Sourcing Analysts?
Technology hardware, medical devices, aerospace, and automotive manufacturing file H-1B LCA petitions for Sourcing Analysts with the most frequency, reflecting their complex global supply chains and demand for analytically trained procurement professionals. Large retail and consumer goods companies also sponsor, though with less consistency. Searching Migrate Mate by industry lets you identify which employers have active filing history for this occupation.
Can my employer file an H-1B for me if I'm currently on OPT as a Sourcing Analyst?
Yes. If your OPT authorization is active, your employer can file an H-1B petition during the April cap registration window. If selected, your status typically transitions on October 1. STEM OPT holders have a longer runway, but you should confirm your OPT end date and the employer's expected filing timeline before accepting an offer to avoid any authorization gap.
What SOC code is typically used for Sourcing Analyst H-1B filings?
Employers most commonly file under SOC 13-1023 (Purchasing Agents) or 13-1082 (Project Management Specialists), depending on how the role is structured. Some employers use 11-3061 (Purchasing Managers) for senior-level sourcing positions. Reviewing your offer letter's job duties against the O*NET profiles for these codes helps confirm your employer is using the code that best matches your actual responsibilities.
How do I know if a company will actually sponsor my H-1B for a Sourcing Analyst position?
The most reliable signal is a company's LCA filing history for this specific occupation, which is publicly disclosed through the DOL. Many employers list roles as open to sponsorship but have never filed for a Sourcing Analyst specifically. Migrate Mate surfaces verified LCA data by job title so you can see which employers have a real track record of sponsoring this role before you invest time in their application process.
