Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding H-1B Visa Sponsorship as a Strategic Alliance Manager
Frame your degree for specialty occupation
USCIS evaluates whether your degree field directly relates to alliance management duties. A business, marketing, or international relations degree maps cleanly. If your degree is in an unrelated field, document how coursework and experience align to the role's core functions.
Use LCA data to target active sponsors
DOL Labor Condition Application filings are public record. Search OFLC Wage Search for alliance manager job titles to identify companies that have filed recently, which signals an active sponsorship infrastructure rather than a one-off hire.
Search verified sponsors on Migrate Mate
Migrate Mate filters Strategic Alliance Manager roles by employers with confirmed H-1B filing history, so you're applying to companies that already have sponsorship processes in place rather than discovering their position late in the interview cycle.
Clarify partnership scope in your application
Alliance Manager roles span ISV partnerships, reseller channels, and co-sell programs. Specifying the type of partnerships you manage helps employers match your profile to the correct SOC code on the LCA, which affects prevailing wage tier and petition strength.
Time your offer conversations around the cap
Cap-subject H-1B petitions have a hard April filing deadline for an October 1 start. If you're negotiating an offer in late Q3 or Q4, confirm whether the employer plans to file in the next registration window or wait a full cycle before accepting.
Verify cap-exempt employer eligibility early
Universities, nonprofit research organizations, and certain government-affiliated entities are cap-exempt and can sponsor H-1B workers outside the annual lottery. If an alliance manager role is posted by one of these employers, USCIS allows filing year-round with no registration requirement.
H-1B Visa Strategic Alliance Manager: Frequently Asked Questions
Does a Strategic Alliance Manager role qualify as a specialty occupation for H-1B purposes?
Yes, provided the employer documents that the role requires a bachelor's degree or higher in a specific field such as business, marketing, or a related discipline. Roles focused on ISV partnerships, enterprise co-sell programs, or technology alliances typically meet the specialty occupation standard because the work requires theoretical and practical application of a specialized body of knowledge. Vague job descriptions that accept any degree field can create problems at adjudication.
How do I find Strategic Alliance Manager employers that actively sponsor H-1B visas?
Migrate Mate shows Strategic Alliance Manager roles filtered by employers with verified H-1B filing history. You can also cross-reference DOL's OFLC disclosure data to confirm a company has filed LCAs for this job title previously. Tech companies, SaaS vendors, and cloud platform providers appear most frequently in LCA filings for alliance-focused roles.
Which SOC code typically applies to Strategic Alliance Manager positions on an LCA?
Most Strategic Alliance Manager filings use SOC 11-2021 (Marketing Managers) or SOC 11-2022 (Sales Managers), depending on whether the role emphasizes partner marketing programs or channel revenue. The employer's HR or immigration counsel determines the SOC code, and it directly sets the prevailing wage tier on the LCA. You can check wage levels for each code by region using the OFLC Wage Search.
Can I transfer my H-1B to a new Strategic Alliance Manager role without restarting the process?
Yes. Under H-1B portability rules, you can start working for a new employer as soon as the transfer petition is filed with USCIS, as long as your current H-1B has been approved for at least 180 days. The new employer files a new I-129 petition and LCA but you don't re-enter the lottery. Confirm the new role falls under the same specialty occupation category as your existing approval to avoid an RFE.
Does the type of alliance program I manage affect H-1B sponsorship eligibility?
It can affect how the employer structures the LCA and which SOC code they use, but the underlying eligibility turns on degree requirement rather than program type. Roles managing technology reseller channels, cloud marketplace partnerships, or OEM agreements all qualify when the employer can show the work requires a specialized degree. Roles that are primarily sales-quota-focused with no specialized knowledge requirement are harder to defend as specialty occupation.
