Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding Visa Sponsorship as an Auditor
Verify your degree meets specialty occupation standards
Auditor roles typically require a bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a directly related field. Confirm your Chilean credential maps to a U.S. equivalency before applying, since the consular officer will assess specialty occupation status at your interview.
Target employers with active LCA filing history
Search the OFLC Wage Search to find companies that have certified Labor Condition Applications for auditor roles. Employers with recent filings already understand the H-1B1 Chile process, which shortens the time between offer and sponsorship paperwork.
Use Migrate Mate to find H-1B1 Chile sponsoring employers
Filter your auditor job search on Migrate Mate to surface employers with verified H-1B1 visa Chile sponsorship history. This removes guesswork about which firms will initiate the LCA and consulate filing for Chilean nationals specifically.
Benchmark your salary against DOL prevailing wage levels
Your employer must certify your offered wage meets or exceeds the DOL prevailing wage for your SOC code and work location. Run the OFLC Wage Search before negotiating your offer to confirm the number your sponsor will be required to certify.
Clarify employer filing responsibilities before accepting an offer
Unlike H-1B visa, the H-1B1 Chile process skips USCIS petition filing. Your employer files the LCA with DOL, then you apply directly at a U.S. consulate in Chile. Confirm the hiring team understands this distinction before you reach the offer stage.
Prepare audit credentials and CPA equivalency documentation early
Chilean CPA or public accountant credentials don't automatically translate at the consulate. Gather your degree certificates, professional registration, and any IFAC-member body credentials so the consular officer can assess your qualifications without delays.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does an auditor role qualify as a specialty occupation for the H-1B1 Chile visa?
Yes. Auditor positions typically require a bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field, which meets the specialty occupation standard. The consular officer will verify that your specific job duties require that degree level and that your credential aligns with the role. Internal audit, external assurance, and financial audit roles all generally qualify.
How does the H-1B1 Chile visa differ from the H-1B for auditors?
The H-1B1 Chile visa is available only to Chilean nationals and has no lottery. The 1,400 annual cap has never been exhausted, and you apply directly at a U.S. consulate in Chile rather than filing a USCIS petition. The H-1B requires employer petition filing with USCIS and enters an oversubscribed lottery, making the H-1B1 Chile path significantly more predictable for qualified auditors.
How do I find U.S. employers willing to sponsor an H-1B1 Chile visa for an auditor?
Use Migrate Mate to search for auditor roles filtered by H-1B1 Chile sponsorship history. Employers who have previously filed Labor Condition Applications for Chilean nationals are the most likely to move quickly through the LCA and consulate process. Public accounting firms, financial institutions, and multinational corporations are the most active sponsors in this occupation.
What documents does a Chilean auditor need for the consulate appointment?
You'll need a certified LCA from DOL, your DS-160 confirmation, a valid passport, degree certificates with translations if issued in Spanish, and proof of the employment offer including job duties. If you hold a Chilean CPA license or professional registration, bring those credentials as supporting evidence of your specialty occupation qualifications.
Can a Chilean auditor switch employers while on an H-1B1 Chile visa?
Yes, but the process restarts. Your new employer must file a fresh LCA with DOL certifying the prevailing wage for your role and location. Once the LCA is certified, you'll typically need a new consulate appointment in Chile to obtain a visa stamp reflecting the updated employer. There's no portability mechanism equivalent to what H-1B holders use under AC21.
