Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding Visa Sponsorship as an Operations Specialist
Verify your degree supports specialty occupation
Operations Specialist roles require a directly related bachelor's degree, not just any four-year credential. Pull your O*NET occupation profile to confirm the typical education level, then document how your Chilean degree maps to that field before your first employer conversation.
Target employers already filing Labor Condition Applications
Search Migrate Mate to identify which employers have active LCA filings for operations roles. Companies with existing H-1B1 Chile or H-1B visa filing history already have immigration counsel in place, which shortens the path from offer to sponsorship decision.
Request LCA filing before your start date negotiation
Your employer files the LCA with DOL before you can schedule your consular appointment. Build at least three weeks of LCA certification time into your start-date discussion so your timeline stays realistic and your employer isn't caught off guard.
Check prevailing wage tier using OFLC Wage Search
DOL assigns your offered salary to a wage tier based on job title, duties, and work location. Run your role through the OFLC Wage Search before finalizing offer details so you and your employer know the minimum wage the LCA must certify.
Prepare a specialty occupation documentation packet
Consular officers assess whether your Operations Specialist duties genuinely require a specialized degree. Bring a detailed job description, your employment contract, and a credential evaluation of your Chilean degree that maps your coursework to the role's technical requirements.
Clarify E-Verify enrollment with your employer early
Some H-1B1 visa Chile sponsoring employers are already enrolled in E-Verify through STEM OPT or federal contracting requirements. Confirm your employer's status before your offer stage so there are no onboarding delays once your visa is approved.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does an Operations Specialist role qualify as a specialty occupation for H-1B1 Chile?
Yes, if the position genuinely requires a bachelor's degree or higher in a directly related field, such as operations management, industrial engineering, supply chain, or business administration. The key test is whether the degree requirement is a real job prerequisite, not just a preference listed in the posting. A vague requirement like 'any bachelor's degree' weakens the specialty occupation argument at the consulate.
How does H-1B1 Chile compare to H-1B for Operations Specialist sponsorship?
H-1B1 Chile skips the lottery entirely and processes at the U.S. consulate rather than through USCIS, which means no I-129 petition and no premium processing fee. The annual cap is 1,400 visas and has never been exhausted. The tradeoff is that H-1B1 Chile is nonimmigrant intent only, so it doesn't support a parallel green card process the way H-1B does.
How do I find employers willing to sponsor an H-1B1 Chile visa for this role?
Use Migrate Mate to search for employers with verified LCA filing history for operations roles. Companies that have filed Labor Condition Applications before already understand the sponsorship process and are far less likely to withdraw an offer once they see the filing requirements. Filtering by employers with existing DOL filings saves significant time compared to cold outreach.
Can I renew my H-1B1 Chile visa while staying with the same employer?
Yes. H-1B1 Chile visas are issued in two-year increments with no cap on renewals, so you can stay in status as long as you maintain a qualifying Operations Specialist role and your employer files a new LCA each renewal cycle. Renewal is handled at the consulate, not through USCIS, and the cap still applies but remains well below the 1,400 annual limit.
What documentation should a Chilean professional bring to the H-1B1 Chile consular interview for an Operations Specialist role?
Bring the certified LCA, your employment offer letter specifying duties and salary, educational credentials with a certified evaluation mapping your Chilean degree to the specialty occupation, and any professional certifications relevant to your operations role. The consular officer will assess both the specialty occupation requirement and your nonimmigrant intent, so a clear, detailed job description from your employer is essential.
