H-1B1 Chile Visa Staff Accountant Jobs
H-1B1 Chile visa sponsorship lets Chilean accounting professionals work in the U.S. without entering a lottery. Staff Accountant roles qualify as specialty occupations requiring a bachelor's degree in accounting or a related field, and the 1,400-visa annual cap rarely fills, so consulate processing moves faster than the H-1B visa route.

Verify your degree meets specialty occupation standards
A Staff Accountant role qualifies under H-1B1 visa only if your employer can show the position requires a bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a directly related field. Degrees in unrelated disciplines create RFE risk even if you have years of experience.
Pull prevailing wage data before salary negotiations
Your employer's LCA must certify a wage at or above the DOL prevailing wage for your specific location and SOC code. Look up the going rate using the OFLC Wage Search before you receive a written offer so you know the floor.
Target employers already filing Labor Condition Applications
Companies with active LCA filings for accounting roles have already navigated DOL requirements and understand the H-1B1 Chile process. Use Migrate Mate to filter employers by verified LCA filing history so you're applying where sponsorship is realistic, not aspirational.
Flag your Chilean citizenship early in interviews
Many U.S. accounting hiring managers conflate H-1B1 Chile with the standard H-1B lottery. Clarifying that you need no lottery slot and no USCIS petition filing often removes the hesitation employers feel about sponsoring international candidates for Staff Accountant roles.
Prepare a CPA credential equivalency letter if applicable
If you hold a Chilean CPA or contador auditor credential, consular officers may ask how it maps to U.S. licensing requirements. A formal equivalency letter from a credential evaluation service strengthens your specialty occupation documentation at the visa interview.
Confirm your employer's E-Verify enrollment before the LCA is filed
Employers sponsoring H-1B1 workers must be enrolled in E-Verify. If your prospective employer isn't enrolled, the LCA certification process stalls. Ask HR to confirm E-Verify status during the offer negotiation phase, not after you've accepted.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does a Staff Accountant role qualify as a specialty occupation for the H-1B1 Chile visa?
Yes. Staff Accountant positions qualify because the role typically requires at minimum a bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a closely related field. Your employer documents this in the Labor Condition Application. If the job description accepts any bachelor's degree regardless of field, the specialty occupation argument weakens, so the offer letter and job duties should specify the required discipline.
How does the H-1B1 Chile visa differ from the H-1B for a Staff Accountant role?
The H-1B1 Chile visa skips the lottery entirely, has a separate 1,400-visa annual cap that historically goes unfilled, and is approved at the consulate rather than through a USCIS petition. The H-1B requires employer-filed Form I-129 and lottery selection before any consular step. For Chilean accounting professionals, the H-1B1 path is faster and far more predictable once you have a qualifying offer.
Where can I find Staff Accountant jobs with H-1B1 Chile visa sponsorship?
Migrate Mate is the recommended starting point because it filters job listings by employers with verified LCA filing history, showing which companies have actually sponsored workers in accounting roles rather than just listing jobs. Generic job boards don't surface sponsorship eligibility, so you end up cold-applying to employers who may decline once they learn about the visa requirement.
Can my employer file the H-1B1 Chile LCA for a remote Staff Accountant position?
Yes, but the LCA must list every location where you'll perform work, and prevailing wage levels are set by the physical work location, not the employer's headquarters. If you're working remotely from a different city, your employer files the LCA with wage data corresponding to that city's DOL prevailing wage for the accounting SOC code, which may differ significantly from the employer's primary office location.
How long does H-1B1 Chile consular processing take for an accountant applying from Chile?
Consulate appointment availability drives most of the timeline. Once your employer has a certified LCA, you complete the DS-160 and schedule an interview at a U.S. embassy or consulate in Chile. Administrative processing adds time for some applicants, but straightforward Staff Accountant cases with complete documentation typically receive a decision at or shortly after the interview. Migrate Mate can help you identify employers experienced with the full consular timeline.
