About Wing:
Wing offers drone delivery as a safe, fast, and sustainable solution for last mile logistics. Consumer appetites for on-demand services are increasing, but current delivery methods are inefficient, costly, and contribute to road accidents and air pollution. Wing's fleet of highly automated delivery drones can transport small packages directly from businesses to homes on-demand, in minutes. We design, build, and operate our aircraft, and offer drone delivery services on two continents. Our technology is designed to be easy to integrate into existing delivery and logistics networks, offering a scalable drone delivery solution for a broad range of businesses. Wing is a part of Google's parent company, Alphabet, and our mission is to create the preferred means of delivery for the planet. If you're ready to do the greatest work of your life, come join us.
About the Role:
Wing is looking for a Director of Communications who can seamlessly navigate the intersection of cutting-edge technology, consumer trust, and public policy. This role is based remotely in the United States and will serve as the storyteller and strategic communications architect for Wing.
Wing is entering a new chapter of commercial maturity, moving from targeted drone delivery in key markets to scaling everyday delivery. As the leader in residential on-demand delivery, we are accelerating our rollout nationwide across 20 metro areas. In this role, you'll architect an integrated communications strategy that transforms drone delivery from a futuristic novelty into an indispensable, trusted everyday service. Success requires a strategist who can balance the distinct needs of external media, local communities, local and federal regulators, global enterprise partners, and our expanding global workforce.
What You'll Do:
- Design a holistic internal and external communications strategy to support Wing's expansion into complex metropolitan markets.
- Normalize drone delivery for consumers, shaping future behavior without losing the innovative factor of our service.
- Drive B2B and B2C communications to ensure restaurant and retail partners recognize Wing as a viable, present-day delivery option worth prioritizing on their roadmaps.
- Partner with the Government and Affairs and Public Policy teams to engage with federal aviation authorities, policymakers, and local municipal governments to navigate complex regulatory landscapes and community concerns regarding noise, privacy, and airspace safety.
- Oversee comprehensive executive communications, thought leadership, internal communications, and crisis communications frameworks.
- Distill highly complex autonomous technology into compelling, authentic stories that resonate with consumers, partners, policymakers, tech press, and employees.
- Build, mentor, and lead a high-performing communications team, fostering a culture of collaboration, accountability, and excellence across internal, external, policy, and product disciplines.
What You'll Need:
- 20+ years of experience in strategic communications, public relations, or corporate affairs, ideally within scaled environments within consumer brands.
- Bachelor's degree in Communications, Journalism, Public Policy, Business, or equivalent practical experience.
- Demonstrated experience managing reputational risk and building corporate narratives for a company undergoing rapid commercial scaling or regulatory scrutiny.
- Proven track record of managing multifaceted communications teams across internal, external, product, and policy disciplines.
- Exceptional executive presence and experience advising C-suite leadership on thought leadership and crisis management.

Verify your degree field matches your role
Consular officers confirm that your communications, journalism, or public relations degree directly supports your specific job duties. A general business degree backing a media strategy role can trigger additional scrutiny, so align your credential documentation carefully before applying.
Search verified H-1B1 sponsors on Migrate Mate
Use Migrate Mate to filter Communications employers by H-1B1 Singapore LCA filing history. That DOL Labor Condition Application data shows which companies have actually filed for your visa type, cutting out employers who say they sponsor but haven't.
Target employers already enrolled in E-Verify
E-Verify enrollment isn't required for H-1B1 visa, but employers already using it understand work authorization workflows and are less likely to stall your offer over unfamiliarity with the consular process specific to Singapore nationals.
Check prevailing wage before negotiating your offer
Your employer must certify your salary meets the DOL prevailing wage for your communications role and location. Run your job title and metro area through OFLC Wage Search before your offer conversation so you know the floor and can negotiate above it.
Confirm your job title against O*NET specialty occupation codes
Titles like 'content coordinator' can fall outside specialty occupation definitions if duties are routine. Pull your O*NET occupation profile and confirm your role maps to a code requiring a specialized bachelor's degree before your employer files the LCA with DOL.
Request a consulate appointment as soon as the LCA is certified
Once DOL certifies the LCA, schedule your U.S. embassy appointment in Singapore without delay. H-1B1 visa stamps are issued for one year and your start date depends on consulate availability, not USCIS adjudication, so early scheduling protects your timeline.
Frequently Asked Questions
Do Communications roles qualify as a specialty occupation for the H-1B1 Singapore visa?
Most communications roles qualify if they require a bachelor's degree in a directly related field such as communications, public relations, journalism, or marketing. Roles like public relations specialist, communications manager, or media strategist consistently meet this standard. Generalist titles with broad, non-degree-specific duties can face more scrutiny at the consulate, so your employer's LCA and job description should specify the degree requirement clearly.
How does the H-1B1 Singapore visa compare to H-1B for Communications professionals?
The H-1B1 Singapore visa skips the H-1B lottery entirely and is processed at the U.S. Embassy in Singapore rather than through USCIS. The 5,400 annual cap has never been reached, so you can apply at any point in the year. The tradeoff is that each H-1B visa1 stamp is valid for one year and must be renewed annually, whereas an approved H-1B petition can cover up to three years initially.
Which Communications employers are most likely to sponsor H-1B1 Singapore visas?
Employers with existing international hiring programs and prior LCA filings for communications roles are your strongest targets. Migrate Mate filters job listings by verified H-1B1 Singapore LCA filing history, so you can prioritize companies that have already navigated the process rather than educating a new employer from scratch.
Can my employer file the H-1B1 LCA while I'm still outside the U.S.?
Yes. The DOL Labor Condition Application is filed by the employer regardless of where you're located. Once DOL certifies the LCA, you take it to your consulate appointment at the U.S. Embassy in Singapore. Unlike the H-1B, there's no USCIS petition step, which means the process is faster and doesn't require you to be present in the U.S. to initiate it.
What happens if my H-1B1 visa stamp expires before my employer files a renewal?
Your status and work authorization remain valid inside the U.S. as long as your employer timely files a new LCA with DOL before your current H-1B1 visa period ends. The visa stamp is only a travel document. If the stamp expires while you're in the U.S. and your status is still valid, you'd need a new stamp at a consulate before re-entering after any international travel.
