H-1B1 Singapore Visa Technical Program Manager Jobs
Technical Program Manager roles qualify for H-1B1 Singapore visa sponsorship as specialty occupations requiring a bachelor's degree or higher in engineering, computer science, or a related field. No lottery, no USCIS petition filing, and the 5,400-visa annual cap rarely fills, so your timeline from offer to consulate appointment is typically faster than the H-1B visa path.

Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding Visa Sponsorship as a Technical Program Manager
Verify your degree meets specialty occupation criteria
The H-1B1 visa requires a directly related degree, not just any bachelor's. A computer science or engineering degree maps cleanly to TPM roles, but a business degree paired with an unrelated minor may draw consular scrutiny. Pull your O*NET occupation profile to confirm the standard educational requirements before applying.
Target employers with active LCA filing history
Use Migrate Mate to filter companies by their Labor Condition Application filing history for program management roles. Employers who've filed LCAs before understand the H-1B1 process, which shortens internal approval cycles and reduces the risk of an offer falling through during the visa stage.
Raise H-1B1 eligibility early in negotiations
Singaporean nationals under the U.S.-Singapore Free Trade Agreement don't require USCIS-filed petitions, which means lower employer cost and no lottery risk. Surfacing this during offer discussions reframes sponsorship as a straightforward administrative step rather than a multi-thousand-dollar legal commitment.
Check prevailing wage before discussing compensation
Your employer must certify on the LCA that your salary meets the DOL prevailing wage for the TPM role in your work location. Run the OFLC Wage Search for your specific SOC code and metro area before negotiating so you know the floor your offer must clear.
Prepare a degree equivalency letter if your credential is foreign
Consular officers verify that your Singaporean degree meets U.S. specialty occupation standards. If your qualification is a three-year polytechnic diploma plus postgraduate work, get a credential evaluation from a NACES-member organization before your appointment to pre-empt administrative processing delays.
Align your start date with the LCA certification timeline
DOL typically certifies LCAs within seven business days, but errors in the filing can reset that clock. Confirm with your employer that the LCA is submitted at least three weeks before your intended consulate appointment to avoid a gap between your projected start date and actual visa issuance.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does a Technical Program Manager role qualify as a specialty occupation for the H-1B1?
Yes. Technical Program Manager is a specialty occupation because it typically requires a bachelor's degree or higher in computer science, engineering, or information systems as a standard entry requirement. Your employer confirms this on the Labor Condition Application. Roles where the employer accepts any degree field regardless of relevance can draw consular scrutiny, so the job description should specify a technically related degree.
How does the H-1B1 Singapore visa differ from the H-1B for TPM roles?
The H-1B1 has no lottery, no USCIS petition requirement, and an annual cap of 5,400 visas for Singaporeans that has never filled. You apply directly at the U.S. consulate in Singapore after your employer files the Labor Condition Application with DOL. The H-1B requires USCIS to approve a full petition, involves lottery selection, and carries significantly higher employer filing costs. For Singaporean nationals, the H-1B1 is the faster and cheaper path to a TPM role.
How can I find employers actively sponsoring H-1B1 Singapore visas for TPM jobs?
Migrate Mate shows verified Labor Condition Application filing history by employer and occupation code, so you can identify companies that have sponsored program management roles before. Employers with existing LCA filings for technical roles are far more likely to move quickly through the H-1B1 process than those encountering it for the first time.
Can my employer file the H-1B1 while I'm already in the U.S. on another visa status?
The H-1B1 is a consular-processing-only visa, meaning you cannot change status to H-1B1 from inside the U.S. through USCIS. If you're currently on F-1 OPT or another nonimmigrant status, your employer files the LCA, and you then apply at the U.S. consulate in Singapore. Plan your travel window around LCA certification and consulate appointment availability.
Does the H-1B1 allow dual intent for TPM professionals building toward a green card?
No. The H-1B1 does not allow dual intent, unlike the H-1B. You must maintain a foreign residence and nonimmigrant intent at each consular renewal. If your employer is pursuing a PERM labor certification or immigrant visa petition on your behalf, consular officers may question your nonimmigrant intent. TPM professionals planning an immigrant pathway typically transition to H-1B after the PERM process is underway.
